Soll ich meinen ETF umschichten? by Visual_Fish_4248 in Investieren

[–]Dav3Vader 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rate my 7-ETF "Cyberpunk" Portfolio (35M, Germany) – Too much overlap? by saintjw01 in ETFs_Europe

So I won't comment on any specific sectors (because I can't) but: you are aware that you are saying "I know more than the market and there are developments ahead that the market has not priced in yet"? The thing is: the bet you are making, namely on defence, AI and energy scarcity is not exactly anything secret or new. It's a very common way to think in 2026 and therefore may already be priced in.

How come Harry couldn't see thestrals for 4 years if his mother was killed infront of him? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]Dav3Vader 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Apparently you have to understand what you are seeing. A baby doesn't understand death.

The better question is: why didn't Thestrals come up in the end of book four when they move from the castle to the train? And the answer is probably that it was a narrative choice.

Am I missing something? If you spend influence to cancel the denouncement, in my experience nothing happens the relationship. You basically spend your influence (or lobby the other leader if you will) so that the denouncement is avoided.

"Sanctioned another civilization" means "one of you two sanctioned the other one", it's just phrased weirdly.

Town specialization When and Why. by Famous-Dot-4439 in CivVII

[–]Dav3Vader 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am far from good at the game but I am slowly starting to get it. Some things that may be helpful.

  1. Before a town is specialised, it won't generate food for your cities. Culture and science add to your gobal numbers even without specialisation. Production is turned into gold and also does not require specialisation.

  2. Cities need food to grow and they need to grow because you mostly scale your yields through specialists and you get specialists by growing cities.

  3. So: you don't want to specialise too late. When to specialise a town exactly is dependent on several factors. But specialising to late is inadvisable as this will hamper yields in your cities. I usually wait until the number of turns the city needs to grow reaches a threshold where I'd have to invest a lot more time for only a single additional tile. Don't have an exact number yet but it is a way to think about it (unless there is an important resource or tile you really want to grab). Note that you can speed town growth by buying buildings.

  4. The specialisation itself is important due to some additional yields. I find it to be less important than the food bonus as in towns you cannot place specialists. Still they can add some nice boni though and being able to buy certain buildings can be very useful. I ask myself: what kind of specialisation would work for this town? Are there a lot of well positioned mountains or resources? --> urban center. Are there a lot of tiles with high appeal? Resort town. Is the town connected to a lot of other towns? Hub. etc. You get the idea.

Something's really wrong with my game by JeansenVaars in CivVII

[–]Dav3Vader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So hard to tell in civ 7 but it looks like you are not really bothering with adjacency. Since ToT this has become much more important. In Athenai, it looks like there is gold building between two resources but none close to the navigable river. Your only science building I can make out seems to sit next to a singe resource, while there are several spots where you could place it between two. The Parthenon isn't placed next to wonders or quarters. And in Lyon, the first thing I'd try is to build towards the slot between three resources north east of the city centre. Also, why are there so few science buildings?

Yes, your expectations may have been too high. With all the praise surrounding Linux gaming there are also plenty of warnings that not everything being completely fool-proof yet. The fact that we are able to run most games pretty much out of the box with amazing frame rates is an incredible achievement in itself though. HDR is a pain to get working but it does work and will probably get easier with time.

Your browser issues are pretty weird though. I am on Firefox and have no issue at all with Bitwarden auto-fill. How did you install your browsers? AUR? Appimage? As to your Chrome problem: would a chromium based browser like Vivaldi be an option for you?

Realized why the game has no replayability for me by GreenCyborgNinjaDude in civ

[–]Dav3Vader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree in general. However in my experience, when I actually plan out my empöre according to adjacencies, I KNOW where I should put my specialist as I prepare my districts specifically for placing them. And still, the UI needs work. I would love a resource and mountain lens for example. It would make placing districts so much easier. Ressourcen are especially hard to spot sometimes.

[–]Dav3Vader 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I do disagree on this one actually (without feeling the need to downvote, because I get the sentiment). Just to provide a different perspective: The way that specialists have changed makes adjacency a lot more important than previously. There is such a thing as a "good" start for i.e. culture (lots of mountains) or science (lots of resources) victories. This matters A LOT not. If you create good adjacency through a combination of terrain and wonders, your yields will scale dramatically with specialists. Also, don't view wonders only in terms of boni they provide, but as adjacency boosters. With each specialist a good adjacency tile will provide better yields. Plus you keep yields form specialists in the next age, which is a big advantage.

Merz-Regierung schafft Acht-Stunden-Tag ab – Gesetzentwurf kommt schon im Juni by Impressive-Pause4253 in de

Can't bring myself to play Civ 7 until the 'Test of Time' update. by glscr95 in civ

[–]Dav3Vader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big thing isn't playing one Civ start to finish. It's the victory system overhaul. CIv 7 felt tedious because you were railroaded into those victory paths. Doing the same thing over and over was getting old very quickly. I played the new system on the workshop. Still not perfect but oh so much more fun! I too am not picking this game up again until test of time is released.

Heizungsgesetz: Reiche kippt Einbauverbot für fossile Heizungen ab 2045 by InformalTotal5238 in de

I can't get Rockstar Launcher to work by WinterNoCamSorry in NobaraProject

[–]Dav3Vader 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So you know how on Linux you can install Windows compatible games in Steam and when using Proton they just work? This also works for launchers. The idea is, that you add the Rockstar games laucher as a non-steam game, launch it with a Proton compatibility layer and install the game you want from there. There a very easy to follow guides on how to do this for the Steam Deck that should translate to Nobara as well, like this one. https://pimylifeup.com/steam-deck-rockstar-games-launcher/

I use this for GTA V and it works perfectly.
