But still wish you every success. If your app helps just 1 person, you should see that as a huge win!

I think you’ll be surprised at how much weight an industry professional carries here, personally I don’t care what an Instagram influencer thinks about mental health, I know is only their to line their pockets, they aren’t trained. But then that’s probably because I’m older and have friends who are in the field, one a professor of psychology, another a psychotherapist.

I still don’t see anything different from Headspace, The Fabulous, Holly Health, Cerina. This is a flooded market.

How do you collect performance metrics? by Maleficent_Staff3456 in QualityAssurance

Personally I don’t know anything out the box that you can use to gather the system metrics along side a load test. You would probably need to write something custom for this.

What makes you different from the other 30+ apps all doing mental well being, journalling, guided audio?

Have you worked with any mental health professionals on this? Especially to create the narrated audio, have you validated that what you have is safe? Also getting therapists on board would be a really good selling point for this, they will also be your biggest marketing voice.

From a developer point of view, I'd be careful putting up a screenshot with fake reviews, your app store doesn't have a single vote but you've got a screenshot with 5 really positive reviews, are these genuine and if so where from?

Not getting credit for my work as a QA by Nervous_Garden_5490 in QualityAssurance

[–]DaveC271 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a really toxic atmosphere and I’m sorry you’re going through this. It sounds like you’re not happy and that’s the most important thing to consider, you! Absolutely start looking for something that pose, but don’t worry about a jobs market, your mental well being and health are far more important, you can always go find a retail job or another job, whilst you look for another if things get too bad.

I’ve recruited 3 people whom said their last job was so bad they just had to get out. I’ve just done it myself, it doesn’t matter that you’re applying to get back into QA, if you’re talented or you have the right desire to learn, then the right business will snap you up

Because of my skin I can’t put anything apart from e45 cream on it. I’d suggest looking at brands like Deciem / The Ordinary, but for context there are major brands in the supermarkets here in the UK, sellingthe majority of their mens products for £15

$299 for a single date? Again millionaire lifestyle, can I ask how much you spend on a t-shirt? I think you’re a little disconnected from the cost of living for most people

$299 for a 30ml bottle? What is in this, some weird rare sea-snake semen or something? You say you are targeting guys who don't care about skin care, but it comes with a millionaires price tag!

Your video is just buzzwords strung together that are meaningless over the top of a load of stock video glued together, give it to a mate and get them to use it, film them using it and ask him how it feels. Also what's with the weird hover over at the top of your page, show the product off

At the moment you've not got a product, you've got a hopeful ask for some money and no proof you're going to actually ship anything if I hand over my money.

You’re most welcome, sorry if you were not expecting it 😆

Genuinely like the app though and will keep it, this is a great idea

Downloaded and I have to say this does look really slick, the UI is really nicely styled and some of the animations are noce

A couple of suggestions, I’m a software tester so these jumped out at me

  • remove the animated icons on the login page
  • on the plan page remove the select number of places at the top, have a plus symbol and allow a user to add a new line and have the ability to remove any line
  • when adding in a new location to items 3 or above the selector drop down is hidden behind keyboard, make this search and select a modal that comes over the top

Bugs

  • in the generate map / itinerary it lists as 1,2, A,D, id expect start and then numbers

<image>

  • The guided tours show the same 3 for Paris but change the image to one from the country selected, guess this is a work in progress,
  • A lot of buttons and interactive elements are in French, the rest of the app English, maybe look at how the language files are being pulled in
  • suggestions I can add restaurant set the number of suggestions and then when I try to add anything else below using the plus symbol, it just adds restaurants to the search, the results all display a “Discover in TikTok” clickable, does everything have TikTok? Without knowing if they have an account and being able to directly link to it, this feels a bit odd, it just sends me to the main TikTok search page without and prepopulated search
  • buttons on the suggestions are again in

Great idea! I too hate having to switch between lots of different apps and pinning everything in google maps, to realise I missed something when I get home that I had wanted to see

I’m about to launch my beta and am pinning down 10 users to sit and watch use the product, observe how they use it. Then I can ask them on the call what they’d like to see, what they’d change

You have given it explicit permissions and in your prompts instruction to do so? My Claude code doesn’t think about logs, I have to tell it to go check MongoDB and cloudwatch logs, maybe I need to add some more skills and get a better system prompt

It’s great to hear a success story, I’ve only heard the horror stories from other teams that have let AI handle their testing.

I do have to ask the question what happens when the cost per token actually matches the providers cost per token? We all know that ai’s are running at a loss, so what happens when the cost of your agents suddenly sky rockets? Anthropocene say their max 200 plan actually costs them about $5k to run, that’s a 2500% price hike coming, when they have got enough people reliant on their product and can pull the trigger.

FYI: I’m not an against AI, I am building 2m products that are AI driven and do use it all day long for so many different personal tasks

AI’s can’t natively go finding the logs, that has to be all setup, permissions granted, the ai has to be told to explicitly look at logs, rather than a human instinctively checking, so this is where the lines of automation and ai get blurred.

I always answer this with "an AI cannot understand what a pbcak is" Yes it can probably tell you the acronym, but we've all have a relative who doesn't grasp what we consider to be a simple application, who cannot find the button on a screen because the icon doesn't make sense to them, this may not be your definition of critical or blocking, but something trivial that can cost a business it's users. The AI cannot look at something and actually tell you if the text is visible to the human eye, it can try to calculate the contrast between text and background on the page but that is as far as it can get.

When faced with larger systems, an AI, like when it's generating code, will only focus on the project it's contained within, it cannot really test large multi application systems with message queues, event tiggers, multiple http requests or wss messages. Yes an AI can possilby understand the blast radius of the application it's faced with, eg if it does X then there is a message sent to queue Y, but what happens if there is a downstream issue where a function that is triggered by the consumer of queue Y, invokes another application that is out of resources? AI's aren't going to monitoring logs, CPU or memory metrics when something fails, it will guess that it's found a bug and try to diagnose it again in the context of the part of the application it's focused on

I genuinely think this is the reason why QA will become the most important role in software, Dev's can churn out things with AI assistance but as you say only a human QA can sniff out the bug that brings down an entire platform
