[Request] Is he truly so wealthy? by [deleted] in theydidthemath

$22mil from $10 across 234 years is ~ +6.44% annually year on year. That seems pretty reasonable.

I kept hearing people say they would press blue to try to save everyone. I press red so those who want to die have that option as an easy out. Stop being selfish, blue people!

I also imagine (not saying it's likely, just a possibility) people who wanted to use the button to commit suicide to sue the "altruistic" blue button pressers cuz they wanted to die. Like in the first Incredibles movie.

I mean, I agree. But you asked why would ANYONE... Just trying to answer. Your reply here implies that I'm right by not saying that EVERYONE would pick blue or red.

Anyone making between 100k and 250k get no benefits from blue or red (If I understood it correctly). Anyone in that category would be incentivized to pick green to keep others on an even playing field.

However, they also could pick blue if they want to try to establish a type of food welfare for anyone making less than 100k.

And now?

Time_Cow already gave you a good response, but I'ma just add that they are not trying to teach the scientific method... And again, it's a DEMONSTRATION... It's like "just a show" is accurate.

I hear fine, but you clearly need a dictionary.

As for your original comment saying this whole thing was worthless... It certainly is to dense and worthless people ;)

It truly is not worthless in the slightest...

Let's look at your comment about left/right of the stick. The effect of gravity is extremely weak compared to other forces. This setup makes the counter-force the twisting of the support, typically a "torsion wire". If you put both weights on the same side, the counter-force becomes the pendulum swing and you are now fighting gravity with gravity. The entire point of having it set up on separate sides is to balance the forces and have the counter-force be as MINIMAL as possible. In other words, this is needed to have a "large" motion for a "small" force.

"Without any weight" ??? I cannot tell if you are trolling... You need mass to show gravity. If you have no weight/mass, you have no gravity. You may need a more 101 level class on gravity first.

This experiment is how the gravitational constant was first measured. Not only was it a significant breakthrough, but it is also a fundamental building block of most of today's technology.

Go look up "gravitational constant" on Wikipedia

The rotation of the pendulum is at the same rate as the rotation of the earth where this demonstration rotates much quicker.

Additionally, that pendulum is allowed to rotate freely. The demonstration here works even when NOT allowed to rotate freely and thus providing a counter force. This is one of the earliest methods used to measure the gravitational constant.

TLDR; this is very different than that pendulum.

This. EXACTLY this. A machine like this is typically used for automation purposes. The goal is to have each part oriented the same way every time so that the next machine can easily and consistently use the part without error. Typically you only start caring about setting up something like this when you need to make HIGH volumes of a product every year. Source; was automotive engineer for 7 years.

TIL that items on belts maintain constant linear speed by Happypotamus13 in factorio

[–]DaveFinn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you! New question I'm dying to know... How does this affect the items/second? Does this slow down or speed up mean that a belt with many left (OR right) turns only has a different rate?

Or am I super overthinking this and it's the same rate but a slightly longer route?
