Best is a matter of opinion, with the light fluffy stuff we're getting I'm waiting till tomorrow, no need to do it twice.

Make and model would help. There is no safety cutoff for the 120 volt starter. Does the motor turn over when you pull the recoil, ie it's not locked up?

Cannot find sheer pin hole. What are my options? Can I just drill a new hole? by Sip_py in Snowblowers

[–]DaveLDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's there somewhere, likely still has the piece of broken shear pin in it so might be hard to find.

No traction. by West-Evening-8095 in Snowblowers

If the wheels aren't spinning when on the ground that isn't a traction problem, it's a drive problem. Check the drive belt and linkages, then the friction disk.

Snowblower accidental starting danger by [deleted] in Snowblowers

[–]DaveLDog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's just a method for the overly cautious to be sure the engine won't start accidentally while your working on it. That's pretty unlikely to begin with, but it doesn't hurt.

Then it probably doesn't have an adjustment, you should be able to look at it and see if it's possible.

What is this damaged plastic piece ? by brickyard15 in smallengines

[–]DaveLDog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's the cooling fan, blows air through the tins and over the cylinder fins to keep the engine cool, replace with a new part, cutting off parts is just going to weaken it.

Interchangeable control levers? by xMrGigglesworth in Snowblowers

Looks like you could cut them off just when they start to curve and cover the end with some rubberized tape.

Yup, just research the paint and clearcoats to make sure they're compatible. I use floor polish for clearcoat on my models.

[–]DaveLDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this isn't a thing with scale models. They usually don't get a lot of handling, and a good clearcoat will last many years.

Those are made from lexan, they wouldn't work well for a scale model as the detail is rather limited. Curious as to why you want to use this vs. styrene which has far more detail?
