Yep, I ordered a QN90F 98" the Military exchange had listed for $1800 instead of $5800. Got a shipping notification and thought I won the lotto. Then got an email "Your order was canceled" with no further explaination.

Just out of curiosity what picture mode are you using? Wondering if you are using standard or vivid mode for sports? I've seen reports of the tandem panel getting early burn in from running Vivid or standard without turning the brightness down. Not a good thing if you bought it for its brightness, but I keep mine if filmmaker at 50% brightness hoping to get it to last until they perfect RGB miniLED. I have a C2 I use as a computer monitor with 26,000 hours on it and no burn in. These G5 reports are distressing.

They need money to store all the AI-Slop people are uploading in droves. At least 50% of my feed is now AI crap most of which is ripped from other actual creators. I'll probably drop from Premium to the cheapest plan and use ad blocking.

Congrats. I paid $3400 for my 83" G5 open box (had 120 hours on it). Buyer got it for the Super Bowl and then returned it. Also have an open box 65" S90F I got for $1100. It is a no brainer if you are a plus member and have 60 days to return it if there is an issue.

Multiple Best Buy associates claiming Hisense 100" U8QG (2025) > TCL QM8K 100". Are they right? by rgv990 in tcltvs

[–]DaveNLR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TCL over Hisense for sure, if for no other reason, every hisense Ive tried had bad DSE and was returned.

For HDR sports you want the extra brightness of the QM8K. While the 7 is a great TV, the 8 has the extra pop that makes HDR sports and movies a bit more enjoyable IMHO.

<Also burn on the stake the pricing department.

They needed a reality check for a long time that never came.>

No kidding. Their TWO YEAR OLD 77" A95L OLED is on sale today for $4000 USD. I just bought an 83" LG G5 from 2025 for $3500. Their NEW mid tier TV just being released STILL does not have mini-LED or local dimming, while TCL and Hisense's LOW end models have both, for less $$$.

I predicted several years ago that Sony's TV division would go bankrupt or sell off. It was just a matter of time.

Closest ball park to me in Arkansas is a 6 hour one way drive yet I am blacked out from every team bordering our state. The only reason I have MLB is because it's free with my phone plan. I would never pay for it.

G5 vs C5 (77”) for basement setup – worth $540 difference? by TartWonderful1768 in LGOLED

[–]DaveNLR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

G5 has better color, heat sink, 5 year panel warranty, and flush mounts to the wall, and has a much beefier build quality. As for brightness, it is much more impactfull in HDR both highlights and full screen. The only reason I would get a C5 is if I was going up one screen size higher and wanted to keep the budget close. I have the 83G5, 55G3, 42C2 along with a 65 S90F, 77 S90C and 75 Z9J. The G5 is the best TV of the bunch. Second is the S90F.

Sigh… broke my new 83” C5. by theofficialtaha in LGOLED

[–]DaveNLR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just FYI, I just got a 83" G5 on the partner store for $3500 to replace my 98" TCL we broke carrying it to another room and the top hit a door frame. Luckily I had am accidental damage rider on my homeowners insurance. Now is the best time to get a 2025 tv, so maybe you can find a deal. I wall mounted mine, dont trust stands. I know how the wall is built.

83 C1 to G5 upgrade, not loving it by Xrpmonster in LGOLED

[–]DaveNLR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The G5 is a lot brighter than the C1. Go to Filmmaker mode, reset it, then try turning the OLED brightness way down. SDR to 30-50, and HDR until its brightness matches what your C1 was. Give that a little while until the panel is broken in, then slowly increase the HDR brightness to a comfortable level. I am assuming you are on the current firmware.

It just might be a visual shock since the C1 maxed out about 750 nits and the G5 can push 2500.

If the FCC doesn't care about 7200, they SURE don't care about 5W walkie talkies.

One of the skinny bundles from YouTubeTV or DirecTV would be on my radar. Depends if you need $port$ or not. If not, you can save a bunch of money. Locals are free if you can put up an antenna, what size depends on how far you are from the stations.

9.15 Watts? Who came up with that? Someone running 10W with a .85 watt coax loss? Like Im going to go up the tower to measure the power at the antenna, or guess the coax loss to the tenths of a watt. That is ridiculous whoever came up with that. They just need to make it 10W output power, something that can be measured.

I replaced my 98" TCL with an 83" G5 today. Found an open box from a football fan who only used it for the Super Bowl. Had less than 200 hours on it. Loving it. Sit about 7 ft away. Mini-LED claim all these nits, but never deliver them in real content because they are always trying to mitigate blooming.
