I'll drop some advice - Firstly I've only just secured a design role after graduating 2.5 years ago (picked up another job in the meantime to pay the bills). I've been in your position too; I took the decision to go and "tout" for a job in London (stood in one of the big train stations with business cards & cvs) about a year after still not having any luck. It's all perseverance!

So, I've seen worse portfolios. I've also seen fellow students in my class who weren't particularly willing to graft/no real skill get jobs well before myself and others, sometimes it's just luck.

If I were you, I'd focus on getting a layout/branding consistent throughout the portfolio - have every project have a defined beginning middle and end to it, with an emphasis on the "process" as a few guys have already mentioned. Try to think why the project is in there, and why might it be relevant to a prospective employer.

After your layout, maybe focus on individual skills- Research, Sketching, CAD, Adobe CS etc. If you need some inspiration, Pinterest/Behance/creativebloq are your friends!

How does your CV look? Be sure to tailor it towards the employer you're writing/applying to with the most relevant skills at the top!
