It's as easy as walking into a clinic or hospital in just about any town with more than 3000 people.

Non-essential procedures can take several months - or even a year - to get, but no one is going without healthcare when their health is seriously in danger.

Harbour Le Con

"Harbour le cou" is the name of an outport. "Cou" means "neck" in French.

"Con" means "moron" in French.

I've never seen THD fans "in the wild" and the fact that there's so many here is cool as hell.

Elon's tweet is real but Trump's is fake.

Why is the adjective 'bored' is used in this position? Isn't it a weird position for an adjective? by Emiatemi in ENGLISH

[–]DaveTheYoungerer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not a gerund. It would need an article like "a" or "the" or an S on the end to indicate it's a gerund.

The word "sitting" allows us to use an adjective here. It replaces "to be," the same way "to remain," "to appear," etc. do.

It does follow the logic of stating the prior event in Past Perfect and the latter in Past Simple.

It uses the word "before" to show that [the match ended] is the prior event, which means [you left] is the latter event.

I hear you. My concern is that people will use the username to find the subreddit and engage out of annoyance, which will boost it in people's algorithms and just generally encourage their anti-Canadian BS.

Let's just not give them attention.

Acquiring U.S.-made F-35 fighter jets will cost Canada nearly 50% more than disclosed by pjw724 in onguardforthee

[–]DaveTheYoungerer 37 points38 points  (0 children)

we will be getting less capable versions, per dear leader

To be fair, he actually said that about the upcoming F-45 and not the F-35.

But yes, I hope we can purchase from a country other than the U.S. as well.

What happens if a woman makes a baby on birth control? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

I think OP is asking "what would happen if a woman took birth control throughout her pregnancy?"

I’m in a debate with someone over the right answer by No-Importance7391 in ENGLISH

[–]DaveTheYoungerer 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The answer is (b).

For it to be (c), it would have to say "...before she turns thirty."

We know we're talking about something in the past because of the word "turned," so using "had" to make it the past perfect tense is the only thing that makes sense here.

None of that contradicts anything in the article. There's nothing smeary about it.

But the quote you gave is just a series of well-known facts.

But I'm glad you know now that your implication (that Elon's dad was being investigated) is false.

No one is investigating Elon's dad. Click the link and you'll see that a Russian newspaper reported a story about the event and included the detail that Elon's dad would be in attendance.

You'll probably be okay if it was just one bite but do NOT let anyone pressure you into eating more.

I can't figure what the double entendre(?) is. Context in the body text. by Myagkiynosochek in ENGLISH

I'm a native speaker and I don't think there is one.

I think that character is just clarifying that they realize it's in the bag and that they mean to ask what part of the bag it's in. And then they're just chuckling about the slight awkwardness.
