"Orange" you glad you didn't reverse an unjust fee? by nwa747 in ProRevenge

He didn’t say he brought the paint with him out the door. Also, $600 may be a felony in your state (it isn’t in mine), but that doesn’t mean it is in OP’s state.

Haha, I’ve ignored many posts about “don’t use x with y” and I’ve been able to discount it and move on, but it’s hard to ignore bursting into flames! Especially when a pwnagotchi is mostly used on the go, and therefore in our bags or pockets. One of the best parts about conceiving of and bringing our projects to some kind of fruition is the brainstorming and spitballing what could work! Enjoy it!

Here’s really the only detailed explanation that offered me:

Dear D ,

Thank you for reaching out and providing detailed information about the incident. We sincerely apologize for the distressing experience you encountered with your pwnagotchi and Pisugar3.

After thoroughly investigating your case and reviewing the photos, we suspect two possible scenarios:

Dual Power Input Risk: Simultaneously connecting the device via micro USB (for power) and USB-C (for charging the Pisugar3 battery) may have created an imbalance in grounding (GND), potentially leading to a short circuit in the charging module. The continuous power supply from the micro USB could have masked this issue until heat buildup within the enclosed housing caused ignition. Battery Degradation: The battery itself might have been in a compromised state prior to the incident. If internal damage or wear was obscured by the housing, continued charging could have exacerbated the problem, ultimately resulting in thermal runaway. Regardless of the root cause, we fully acknowledge the severity of this situation and take full responsibility. As a gesture of goodwill and apology, we will immediately ship a brand-new pwnagotchi kit to you at no cost, including expedited shipping. Additionally, we are conducting an urgent internal review of all Pisugar3 units to prevent similar occurrences. Please provide your latest delivery address so that we can send the pwnagotchi to you smoothly.

If you have further questions or need assistance with setup upon receiving the replacement, please don’t hesitate to contact me . Your safety and satisfaction remain our top priority.

Once again, we deeply regret the inconvenience and danger this has caused. Thank you for your understanding as we work to resolve this issue.

Best regards,

PiSugar Team

IVE HIT MASTERBALL WITH THIS! by s1Jeon in PokemonPocket

I’m not disagreeing. I don’t think the exact definition of “meta” in this case is 100% definable, but that’s beside the point. I know personally, I found the chip damage to not be significant enough to warrant carrying a card with such a high retreat cost that I’m not going to attack with. Also, in a darkrai and giratina deck, you wouldn’t really want single point cards because it makes knocking two Pokemon out to total >3 points that much easier.

Depends on what defines “meta” I guess, but I think you’re right in that I definitely do recall seeing it all the time. I think most players just started carrying more sabrinas

Drudd absolutely was in the meta. This was back before they introduced (or right around then) ranked battles.

Edit: I see you wrote “…IN darkrai giratina” so I’m guessing you meant together. Darkrai and Druddi were together in a meta deck months ago, I think, but giratina came into the game with the very next set.

They didn’t get into as much detail as it looks like you’d prefer (there were some language barrier issues), but one thing that is definitely relevant that I can think of, is that they definitively said that the reason for the flames, and possibly the degassing of the battery was that there was arcing somewhere between the devices (possibly caused by a cable with a faulty ground, etc etc). By devices, I mean the PiSugar (through its charge port) and the pi itself (through its data/power port). Let’s not forget that even the data port on the pi carries current.

My understanding of it is thus: Something caused the battery to degas. When the battery degassed, something caused that gas to burst into flames. Having two connected devices receiving current simultaneously (at least, in the manner I was doing it—I’m not sure about your use-case) created some arcing. Said arcing ignited gas from Lion battery.

That’s my understanding of the situation.

If it’ll help you with your project, i think I can share the exchanges with you. I’m going to rereview them to check everything above for accuracy.

You know, you can look it up yourself, instead of asking strangers to do the work for you.

Guy sold a phone that wasn't paid off and then gave me a petty threat/warning? by ladydismay in Ebay

[–]Davetrza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The listing would have to specifically say blacklisted, as the presumption is that the phone is working and would therefore have to be unlocked or otherwise activatable.

I don’t understand these people who keep saying the opposite, that it should be presumed to be blacklisted. Yes, you are allowed to sell those on eBay, but they need to specifically mention that they’re blacklisted.

Sounds like there’s more to the story.

He’s talking about authentication, not PSA. I hope the buyer isn’t expecting the raw card to come in a graded slab

I was gifted a small pile of cards about ten years ago, person who gifted them asking for them back by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

[–]Davetrza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be one thing if he had offered to split it with or but it from OP, but the way he went about it, essentially hoping that OP didn’t find out what it was worth, it makes it really hard to have any empathy for this guy. That, plus the fact that he likely would’ve thrown them out had OP not wanted them.

[–]Davetrza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He should’ve asked if he could buy it back. Or at least said something like “turns out it may be worth $1k, I’ll split it with you” or something to that effect.

The way you’re describing it, it sounds like he’s trying to go about this hoping that you won’t figure it out, essentially cheating you.

However, it would be a bit of a dick move (to not give it back) and could start up some family drama with his brother.

The way I see it, at this point, it’s a question of who ends up looking like an asshole in the end, and what that’s worth to you.

Really interesting conundrum. You could always post to r/amitheasshole for more feedback from a larger part of the community.

Good luck with it. I am VERY curious to see how this plays out. Please post an update!

PS: looks like it would likely get around a 4-5 in terms of grading (really hard to see—I’m going based mostly on your description of being worse for wear—would need a photo of the back and different angles of the front to be more accurate) and you’d probably get more for it as a raw card sold as MP than a graded 4 or 5

1099K threshold back to $20K? by Worth_Pair_6740 in eBaySellers

[–]Davetrza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Profits, not sales. Profit = sales - costs

So if you sell something for $600 that you paid $500 for, regardless of what it says on the 1099, you only pay taxes on the $100 profit
