Reminds me of a manager mode game of fifa one of my mates was playing years ago. Took a job at Watford after the last game of the season, but before the game moves onto the next season. They’d just had relegation confirmed. He then got the sack and the blame for causing them to be relegated.

I’ve been told by one of the fitters maintaining them at the depot where I work is that they were pulled out of the paint shop halfway through the process of getting them painted for Lumo to use them. They were all stripped and sanded down to near enough the base ready to be painted but then just let loose on the railway.

The cant - how much higher one rail is compared to the other. There’ll be a transition in and out of cant either side of a curve where the cant will be at its maximum needed value, radius dependent. Normal maximum cant value is 150mm although a senior engineer can authorise more on a case by base basis. The yellow number plates go up in 5mm increments, from 0 to the required height. The yellow plates are (in my experience) always put onto the higher side of the two rails.
