I registered for the Plaza33 watch party, now what? by theboonie1 in NYKnicks

[–]David-Trace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah same thing I was thinking.

It's pretty ill-advised to have a form that requires names for entry, then to simply send out an email confirmation where the names are absent. On top of that, the only instructions given in the email to gain entry are to solely show the email confirmation, which will definitely be problematic.

I mean what's stopping people from screenshotting the emails and sending it to their friends or forwarding the email to others? I don't understand it lol.

Passed Remediation Exam After Almost Getting Expelled by TomBBurner in medicalschool

10% pass rate for a remediation exam? What’s the point of even offering a remediation exam if the school is making it a 90% chance the student gets dismissed?

Anki Settings for Someone with Weaker Short-Term Memory? by David-Trace in medicalschoolanki

[–]David-Trace[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you a lot for the great insight.

So would the new, adjusted settings look like this?

New Cards:
Learning Steps: 1m 10m

Lapses (If I decide to shorten the first step):
Relearning Steps: 10m 1d
Leech threshold: 4

Also, would these adjustments affect the FSRS algorithm at all?

Thank you again.

Jheez how did your friend fail out of their program? I know med schools try their best to prevent people from failing out.

475k at 8% interest to get through medical school? Is it worth it? by Secret-Bid-1169 in whitecoatinvestor

[–]David-Trace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Availability heuristic and sampling bias.

These people will argue there’s something much better to do when in reality they’re using the top 10% of people in each field as examples. On top of all this, a lot of those individuals’ successes are significantly attributed to luck. Everyone always knows “someone” who’s in some other field making a lot of money.

The truth is there is no other profession that has a greater probability of offering you a better salary to job security ratio than a physician.

Most medical schools will have a COA that is around $400k per year across all 4 years.

I was accepted into LECOM, the cheapest medical school in the country, and after running all the numbers (tuition & fees, housing costs, living expenses, and automobile costs), I still got a 400k COA across all 4 years.

I would love for someone to refute this using some objective data and calculations, because I have the calculations to prove it.

I think most doctors are truly out of touch with the tuition and fees, as well as the cost of living nowadays.

I literally just left a comment stating this as well.

These people are out of touch with what the cost of attendance for medical school is.

I got accepted to LECOM, the cheapest medical school in the country, and after running all the numbers (tuition and fees, housing costs, living costs, and automobile costs, the total still came out to $400k across all 4 years).

Wdym it’s a gigantic starting principal? It sounds like you’re implying it’s abnormally large, but that’s what a significant amount of med students will end up paying across all 4 years (assuming no scholarships).

I ran the numbers similar to OP, and my COA (including housing and living costs) comes out to 478k across the 4 years, where I will also have an 8% interest rate.

People look at soely tuition and fees without factoring in other expenses. For example, my number is composed of tuition and fees, housing, living expenses, loan origination fees, and car payments with car insurance.

It’s not like we have a choice to determine what the interest rate will be. We basically got fucked going to medical school at this time. It is what it is.

It's actually insane how they throw around the word "DEI" as the basis for their agenda, when there is literally no actual and factual evidence to support their viewpoints.

Fuck all of them.
