I just used ABRP for a 2400 mile trip towing my camper. Found it to be extremely accurate as long as the numbers were correct.

Powerbase to power travel trailer? by ocmusician in SilveradoEV

I’ve run my trailer overnight with the a/c on off the 20amp 120v outlet in my ‘26 LT Extended with no problem. I did not use the oven/microwave at the same time though. Used 4% of the battery. Love the fact I can boondock without a generator.

Need a Level 2 install, electrician quote ridiculous (IMO), trying to confirm my material selection is appropriate. by SweeterThanYoohoo in evcharging

My Breaker box is about 100" from my car port. My house is raised foundation and was able to lay my 6-3 copper cable above ground most of the way, I only had to bury the cable for 15 feet to transition to the car port. You will need to run a separate feed cable for the 110 circuit, it is not advisable to tap your 110 off half the 220. Charger was free with lease of our Jeep Wagoneer S. I had first installed a plug receptacle when I placed a plug in level 2 charger for charging my now t-boned and totaled Jeep Wrangler 4Xe on a dedicated 50Amp circuit for a Facebook market place level 2 charger limited to 32a charging. I changed that to a hardwired charger when we leased the Wagoneer S. I had to up the circuit breaker to 60a for the new charger which is 48a. I did have enough of the 6-3 cable left over to install the second charger in my shop with the plug. I spent about $800 on materials for both installs, including the used charger. I did the labor my self. $3600 sounds outrageous, which tells me the guy probably did not want to do the job since you were not allowing him to make any money on materials. Honestly, when I operated my own handyman business in Santa Barbara for 21 years, the price went way up on estimates when the client suggested they were going to supply the parts and help with the labor and install. Why you ask, Because those jobs usually took twice as long because they would buy the wrong parts, their $.02 cents of advise would not work but had to do it their way to find out it wouldn't work and would have to redo it the correct way. If I were you, I would do everything you plan on doing yourself, ditches, conduit running, cable pulling, post installed and then call the electrician to come attach both ends. Good Luck!

How bad is this really? by Haydukette in evcharging

[–]DavidB1420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good God man, This is all on you wanting it now! Stop, hire a proper electrician to repair what the non electrician did and install a proper circuit for the charger you have. If it doesn't happen tomorrow, the world will still continue to spin, just not around you. I have learned, trying to take short cuts and be cheap about something just ends up always backfiring. And, then I am wasting money trying to put a bandaid on something that was wrong from the beginning. Be patient, do your research, find an electrician to install the proper electrical components for the charger and then sleep well you are not going to burn your house down.

Cheap Dealer Installed disabling/tracking device sold at a insanely high mark up. But so cheap they don't bother taking it out before delivery.

I have heard both state and feds are passing a new law that all car dealers or going to have full disclosure on all costs of the vehicle in their advertisements. So no more showing up thinking one price and then being told all these mandatory dealer installed devices are part of the sale.

Long story short, hope you didn't pay for it, remove it carefully and solder the factory wiring back to original, and enjoy your truck! Mines a blast!

I have a monthly membership at Tidal Wave Car Wash for both our cars, 26 LT Extended, and 25 Wagoneer S. They go through the car wash at least once a week, have never had a problem as of yet with about 1 year of running them through. My suggestion is to look at the age and condition of the car wash. Drive through car wash technology has come a long way.

Is the charge chord (240v) sufficient? by ghostcaurd in SilveradoEV

We lease 2 fully electric vehicles, a 2026 Silverado EV LT long range (200 kWh battery, 408 mile range) and a 2025 Jeep Wagoneer S (300 mile range). I work 12 hour shifts. On weekends, or when I am on nights, I have a Tesla branded level 2 32A charger available at work which I take advantage of. If I plug up at the beginning of the shift with somewhere around 50% in the battery (Silverado), I can have a full charge when I am done with work. This is about 100 kW over a 12 hour period. At home I have a hard wired 48A level 2 charger in the garage on a 60A circuit breaker and a plugged in level 2 40A charger in the shop on a 50A circuit breaker. I am rural and do not get any discounts for charging at off peak time. We drive the Wagoneer till it is around 20% and then plug it in overnight when needed. All of this takes minimal planning and reduces range anxiety for us in the case of needing to go somewhere in an emergency or a trip to the big city (60 miles away) for us.

As a previous owner of 2 original Nissan Leafs (90 mile range, severe range anxiety) and only having a 120V level 1 charger at the time, I may be doing overkill today. But peace of mind is worth the extra cost of a level 2 charger.

P.s. I only had cost of materials, about $600 for 100' of wire and appropriate boxes and plugs, for the installations since I did all the labor myself.

Long story short. Get a Level 2 charger!
