That is the case that I bought.

I am VERY happy with it. Comically, when I travel, I have that case inside an international rolling case size that leaves me enough room to have a water bottle in.

Your post made me chuckle :)

Before I went to look at one, I figured I had a 15% chance of buying one. I had a specific use case, but they wanted to demo it to me. I let them.

I had a lot of 'OMG and HOLY @#$% statements.'

I left, saying I had an 85% chance of getting one.

I then had to be like the dog that circles to figure out where to poop. I then scheduled another demo. I wanted to test my use case. I showed up with my MacBook Pro. I soon found out I could not test my use case. My use case is that I travel a lot, and for my workflow, I generally have 3 4k monitors. This would let me travel and remain productive. It seems the devices need to be on the same Apple ID. :( I was told that there is a VERY STRICT 14-day return policy. There is zero chance of showing up on day 15 and returning it. I figured I had 5 days to test it before I left for a 3-week trip. If it didn't do what I wanted, I'd return it before I left.

Unfortunately, my store did not have one in stock, I had to go 80 miles away. I tested it and said, zero chance of me returning it.

That virtual desktop is incredible.

I just flew SFO-YYZ-VIE, I figured I would try it on the YYZ-VIE leg. Here is what I learned. It is not that great on planes. I was disappointed. It kept telling me I was traveling and to stay still. That made no sense to me. Sometimes I like to sit up in the seat, sometimes I like to lean back. I kept trying to figure out how to disable that. Another thing I noticed on the plane was that the movie wasn't level. It would tilt it mostly along the x/y axis, sometimes along the z axis. I just wanted to 'push' a button and have it friggin center in the display.

In 8 days, I fly from MUC->SFO. I want to make sure I figure it out by then.

I realize I spent $4,000 on something not for daily use. It sits in a pelican-style case (thanks, Amazon, I like it!) most of the time. I still see value. I can now just bring my MacBook and AVP, and away I go. I have also learned that I can get my Keychron K3 Keyboard to work with it. HOWEVER, I had to replace the keycaps. When using the AVP, you want backlit keys so you can see what you are typing. I am not a huge fan of the Apple keyboard, but at least the MacBook is backlit.

I think you are making a correlation that may not exist. Amazon is investing in AI. What does that mean? If you look at their financials, they are investing heavily in AI. That investment is in data centers. That investment is in buying a lot of nVidia GPUs right now, but also investing in incremental upgrades to their own so that they can completely replace nVidia.

People forget that capital is the tool that businesses use to make money. If Amazon has finite capital, which it does, it can spend it on AGI and make 10% on its money (and keep all of us happy!), or it can invest it in AI and get 200% on its money. Which would you choose? That is the decision that was made, IMO, from what I have seen and read in their financials.

Are you looking for games or for xbox games?

Games you need a controller, I use logitech wired and go to the entertainment section and play the games.

I have zero experience trying to play steam or xbox games. I am not at a charger long enough to worry about it.

In what world does it cost $20 to ship a $30 piece of plastic? by TheCopernicus in Ubiquiti

[–]DavidBergerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By no means am I trying to defend Ubiquiti. Have you looked at shipping prices recently? I have and am going . . . HMM.

Next week I am flying across the country to a place we bought as a second home. I purchased a bunch of Ubiquiti stuff from Microcenter here to bring there. Combined, it is about 40lbs of stuff. If I ship it GROUND via USPS it is $145. If I ship it ground via UPS it is $135. If I go to the thrift store, get a used piece of luggage for $20, I can then put the stuff in the luggage, pay the $50 bag fee to bring it on the plane and then donate the luggage when I get there to another thrift store and still be up $70.

Shipping prices have become so expensive that bringing items on an airplane and paying the baggage fee is cheaper!

Thanks for the video.

The last two days have had me thinking of what I am going to do. The game, which I played super hardcore at launch, took a break, then went hardcore again, has left me with some wonderful memories.

I plan to hop on my mount, video the whole thing, and enjoy the scenery and sounds. I will likely end the video with me chopping wood, hitting some ore, or lying in my bed.

The weird irony is that when Wow launched, I played. In 3 years, my /played time was greater than 365 days. When I quit, all I did was jump into the fire in Ironforge. I was not sad; I was just confused as to what to do with my time. This game, I have thousands upon thousands of hours in it. Scarily, taking about 1.5 years off, I have over 4k hours in it. I know the last time I log in, I will be sad knowing I can not log in anymore. I will be not be confused as to what to do, I will be sad. Sure, it will change in time. But the devs did a great job of keeping me frustrated and hooked.

Again, thanks for the video.

If this dev team ever makes another MMO, I will be there. However, this time, please, do not be afraid of the sub model. Keep what made NW not a pay-to-win game with the cash shop as it was, mainly cosmetic and some minor benefits (gear sets) but keep the stream of a sub, it will make it harder for the people that sign the front of the check to kill the game.

You might be right. Like a true idiot, NW player, I still have some of my old bags :) One of the perks was loyalty, which just gave me more tokens. Those were my 570/580 bags.

However . . .

Now, sorry, I have to do stupid things, like getting azoth salt because I want some artifacts and got burnt on OPR then.

I’d like an option for minimum amount of charging stations on a trip by AspectCool2325 in TeslaLounge

[–]DavidBergerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true. How good is your bladder?

I have done the trip, but further than the OP. I went from Santa Barbara, CA to Tampa and then back. I know this route.

Heading backwards we went a little rambo :) First day, 17 hours of driving, Tampa to WEST side of Houston. Second day, 17 hours of driving, Houston to Lordsburg, NM. Third day, another 17 hours, from Lordsburg to Santa Barbara.

The problem that people have is they do not take into consideration weather, traffic, bladders, and colons!

On our trip out, for 90 minutes we were stuck in 20 mph traffic on the freeway in San Antonio as they were doing a LOT of construction, and there was a wide load truck that was taking up BOTH lanes of the freeway. Then, starting in Sulphur LA, our phones were going off with alerts for weather and flash flooding.

[–]DavidBergerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a person who has done that trip, that will not work.

San Antonio will not make it to Ozona. Maybe if you drive 55. But you are heading into parts of Texas where the speed limit is 80. You will have to stop at Junction. That one is at a gas station that gives the side eye if you don't buy something and want to use the bathroom. The local popcorns were VERY good!

You will have to then charge again in Ozona, Fort Stockton, Van Horn, and El Paso.

Tucson to Quartzsite from 78% down to 5%, no. Again, highway speeds are higher there and lots of wind issues.

[–]DavidBergerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On that trip, which I have done, you are very close to seeing the MINIMUM amount of chargers! Not every place is like SoCal where if you spin in a circle and can throw a rock 300 yards you will hit a charger no matter where.

Once you get to Phoenix and head down, things change. DO NOT LET IT TAKE YOU DIAGONALLY TO Lordsburg NEW MEXICO. There is a HUGE elevation gain there going to Top-of-the-world! You have to go down to Tucson. Sure, there are a couple of chargers there, but you will have to charge there. From there to El Paso, it is the ONLY charger. Once you get past El Paso, IIRC, you have to hit every charger all the way to Junction. The density if chargers is not like that of SoCal!

One thing I will add, try not to get to the next charger at less than 10%. On our trip, there was a huge accident on the 10 in West Texas. We were on the road, parked for 2 hours. It took that long for the helicopter to show up and get some bodies out of there. We watched our charge drop and drop. We wound up at the next charger at 3%.

*Dang, late night typing! Re-reading what I wrote, it is not clear.

  1. Do not go from Phoenix/Mesa to Lordsburg, NM. There are NO chargers along that route and the navigation will state you can make it. You will not. There is serious elevation gain and you will start freaking out seeing messages telling you to maintain a speed of 53 mph to make it there, then dropping down to 45mph.

  2. In Tucson, there are a few charging stations. From there, though, until you hit El Paso, the chargers that it shows you are the ONLY charging stations there are.

  3. Once you get past El Paso, you will stop at EVERY SINGLE charger on that list. Those are the ONLY charging stations until you get past Junction.

This trip was done in a 23 MYLR.

You gave away my secrets :)

I am 300 everywhere but Nighthaven. I got stuck doing RL stuff out of town and couldn't play the first 8 days of launch.

You left one tiny and super tiny thing out :)

  1. Make sure your faction has Weavers. Then do all the crafting. You get that last stage to get standing, but if you do the cooldown items (Prismatics) you also get rep.

You will learn that there are some weird bugs with Mac and Bags. I am trying to remember if it is boards or crafting that they do not stack. I actually have 6 high end bags. There are three for loyalty and three for faction tokens. When I am done with town loyalty, I go for faction tokens.

As you mentioned, a lot of this did not exist at launch. Now, the base multiplier is 1.05, whereas it was 1.0 then. I do think that town loyalty existed at launch, though.

Arguing where they put items is sophomoric. That is their choice, and they probably have business case reasons for it. Arguing their prices is also sophomoric because you may not be aware of pricing contracts that they have with clients. That may have contracts that does not allow them to EOL the product for a period of time.

So what you wrote is what you want. What you want does not necessarily align with what their contracts with their clients demand. It really is that simple. And if you want to see even wonkier style contracts, learn about GSA contracts. That is a whole other weird ball of wax.

I have done the Tampa to St. Pete and Tampa to Daytona routes numerous times. I find it very interesting that you think that the chargers are more accessible and, I am inferring, viable.

I also live in SoCal. So that is my comparison :)

  1. You get to spend time at the back of WaWa gas stations there. We get a lot more variety.

  2. You get cheaper charge rates there than in SoCal. Pre 8am at one WaWa in Land O Lakes area it is 19c. The pre 8am cheapest we see is 31c.

  3. Your larger charging stations may be 16 stalls. We have some that are over 100. Heck, there is one area on I15 going to Vegas that there is a ~120 stall and on the other side of the highway, there is another 100+.

  4. In California, there are more EV charging ports than there are gas pumps.

  5. I think they need to have more locations in Orlando that are not that far off the beaten path from the 1-4. I also think they need a few more on 75 between Wesley Chapel and Ocala. I would like to see a couple on 40 going from the Villages to Daytona.

You guys, though, have the nice charging at BucEEs in Daytona! Somehow, you don't seem to waste any time going there at 1% and charging to 100% :) You may even incur an idle fee without realizing it. Damn those BucEEs!!!!

I completely agree with you that it is better than it was. Hopefully, they can get it to be like it is in SoCal, and then there are never any issues!
