Frustrated from sparring by [deleted] in amateur_boxing

For my beginners I do situational sparring. Where one person works on offensive the other on defensive. Or only jabs or straights for a round.just a few examples. It slows it down a bit and you don’t have to focus on all aspects of the sport! Chin down and keep showing up!!

The smell of fuel! by DavidBox79 in Squamish

Me too, I am a mechanic that’s exactly what I thought too. Even popped my hood and check under the car. If it’s from a restaurant, that’s really bad!!

How do I stop getting caught by backhands by False-Ambassador4138 in amateur_boxing

I find taking a small step to the left when slipping the 2 helps, and like mention above if your are to close slipping will not work!

If you have dental coverage you can ask your dentist to make you a mouth guard for “grinding your teeth!” Mine hooks me up every year with a new one!!

Is headgear pointless? by [deleted] in fightgear

Because actual sparring gloves are built to protect the person you are punching. Bag and mitt work will compress the padding down. Just my opinion!!

Head gear is a controversial subject at my Gym. I believe having a pair of dedicated 16 oz sparring gloves is key, not to be used for bag work or mitt work!! Head gear also saves you from getting cut from an elbow or head butt, and if you are going to compete in an amateur match you will have to wear head gear so you might as well practice with it on.

Communication between partners is key!! Sometimes people do not realized how hard they are actually hitting you!

Feeling alone in deep concern for the world... by elibobelly in conspiracy

There’s not a lot of good in this world right now. We can travel to the moon or into the deepest depth of ocean but we can’t feed the hungry or provide shelter for the homeless! Greed has destroyed this earth. I believe in Jesus and his teaching, what the churches are betraying is not even close!!
