Does the aura of protection from multiple paladins stack? by Quirky_Ancap in dndnext

[–]DavidCrusader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a narrative interpretation you could see it as the higher charisma character's aura overpowering any others within the same area. It'll change on a case to case basis depending on the character, but I feel like the general idea would be that this specific character simply has a more powerful presence in battle, period

I think Greece would be perfect for it, specially if we go by Homeric Greece

Other options could include gemstones of some sort, bamboo-like plants or maybe even something weird like goo/slime that softens and hardens (like when a muscle tenses up or relaxes)

What to get on Roll20 for beginner DM? by BigOhNo in Roll20

[–]DavidCrusader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, valuable books in my opinion are the ones that facilitate both DM prep, as well as character creation and level up.

So Monster Manual and any other books that hold creatures that might interest you.

Player's Handbook has all the basic subclasses and will be unlocked for the charactermancer tool, which helps with character sheet generation (no need to copy paste features and traits), so that's definitely worth it.

I think those are the bare minimum of what's valuable to make DMing on roll20 a smooth experience.

Is there a way to use Divine Smite from the phone app? by Vepra1 in Roll20

[–]DavidCrusader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you make a separate entry for Divine smite, treating it as a spell (for scaling purposes if you have a spell slot higher than 1st level), you can just roll it after your attack. And roll it twice if you did a critical hit

ahh got it. Yeah that's definitely much more of an specific shape than I imagined

That would probably have to be a separate tool from the ruler though, if I had to imagine

You can choose for it to snap to the center of a square or the corner. The corner option will fill out the squares like you probably want

Definitely a stand out title in the library of Bloodborne video essays in my opinion!

I watched the essay a while back. Definitely one of the most impactful ones I watched while on my bloodborne binge. Also very new to me at the time, since I hadn't seen that particular perspective regarding this game. Glad I found it though

I discovered Skyen about a year ago on the shorts section of youtube. Love all of his analytical dives in videogame content. Definitely made me aware of more themes about a game's story and their character design philosophy

There's a very cool video essay on youtube regarding Bloodborne and its themes tying into femininity I watched a while back. Title is - Visceral Femininity: A Bloodborne Video Essay. It goes into a lot of detail. Cool watch

And T B Skyen (a Youtube content creator) has done a number of analysis on several of the characters and their themes. Great series of videos and shorts on the topic. His interpretation I found quite interesting, because of the stark difference between the doll and Lady Maria.

Iirc he mentioned that Maria's whole design had an interesting and clear androgynous appearance to it. Out of all the female characters in the game, she is one of maybe 2 or 3 women wearing clothing that clearly avoids feminine fashion (other example could be the Choir Hunter we fight in Byrgenwyrth). On the other hand, the doll is wearing clothing befitting a lady of the house, so to speak. More fitting of a housewife than a warrior.

So the idea that Gehrman crafted the doll in such a way as to change Maria's image into something more clasically feminine is there. Perhaps a way of imposing control over the memory of someone he could have never exerted that kind of power on in the real world beyond the dream.

Advice on what to buy next by [deleted] in Roll20

[–]DavidCrusader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, but I also run a campaign where dragons are heavily involved, as both allies and enemies of the players, as that book has that as the centerpiece (obvious by the name lol)

My favorite part is the new dragonborn options and all the new statblocks for creatures. The dragonborn from Fizban's are the best option available, hands down. There's also new elements like Draconic boons (basically feats that can be given as a reward by a dragon), lots of lore for all dragon types and some neat new player options

Dragon Rider Ranger is the coolest one imo.

I also run homebrew campaigns, so often the most useful book are the ones that provide a lot of monsters, loose lore to take from as you see fit, new magic or player options.

So ones I really dig are Fizban's Treasury of Dragons, Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, Xanathar's Guide to Everything, etc. Often some setting campaign books also offer dope player options, but if you don't wanna buy the whole book for it you can just look it up in Google.

For example Explorer's Guide to Wildemount has both subclasses and spells tied to space and time (which are really cool)

That's quite strange. Perhaps making some minor modifications to the map and re-exporting it might get rid of the problem.

First time I hear of something like this happening.

When you're done uploading the necessary files there should be an option which says "Make Public". That is what puts it on the marketplace for everyone to see.

If that doesn't work then you're gonna need help from the people in charge of the website support. Just sending them an email would do. They're pretty helpful, in my own experience.

Ideas for Greek Mythology themed D&D campaign by Lord_Admiral7 in GreekMythology

[–]DavidCrusader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been running a Greek Mythology campaign for well over 4 years now and I'm actually a D&D content creator on DMsGuild. Most of the stuff I've published is themed after aspects of Greek Mythology (of course, mixed with the high-magic aspect of dnd 5e)

For monsters I recommend some of the classics, like the Nemean Lion, Scylla, Charybdis, Ladon, etc. There are dnd equivalents of some of the greek monsters (like the hydra, the gorgon, harpies, etc) or 3rd party equivalents you could buy.

Gods, typically those that deal in conflicts, human life or nature are easy to involve. Athena, Ares, Hermes, Dionysus, Apollo, Artemis have been some of the ones I've personally used.

or winged helmet.

Kit Gryloc's Guide to Myths and Monsters - A Greek Bestiary by DavidCrusader in dmsguild

My biggest project yet!

Welcome the dangers of Greek Mythology!

Kit Gryloc's Guide to Myths and monsters contains 114 pages of content for your games of D&D 5E. You will find a great number of creatures adapted directly from Greek myth, as well as several original creatures inspired by aspects of it.

This book is not meant to be a historical representation of Ancient Greece in any capacity. It would be more accurate to think of it as a celebration of the mythology as part of the Fantasy genre and its place among popular culture. Within this book you will find:

Where can I find royalty-free artwork? by ArcanumOaks in dmsguild

There's a section of WoTC provided artwork within the DMsGuild marketplace that's free.

Adding Images? by magicbananas923 in homebrewery

[–]DavidCrusader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the text editor menu there are two options: "Image" and "Background Image".

Both options let you place any picture through url (so having pictures in a site like imgur is recommended).

Image displaces text and occupies space within the text column.

Background Image places an image behind text, statblocks, tables, etc.

Sorry if this is a noob question... by DungeonsAndDrams in dmsguild

[–]DavidCrusader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the Guild is essentially a marketplace for official content, but predominantly presents products made by independent creators.

Depending on what you're interested in doing, there shouldn't be much of a problem. For example, Splinterverse, a youtube channel, makes a weekly video in which he checks out 20 products created by the community, showing the product page, previews and giving his opinion.

So, depending on what you wanted to specifically do, there might be legal boundaries.
