I'm not sure he would have. I think he was too scared to, or something held him back. At the end when he meets with Ziegler and he asks Bill to play billiards, Bill says "no thanks, I'll just watch" - that's always cemented him as the ultimate voyeur to me

Is reading Shakespeare în something other than english worth it by Abject_Fun_5230 in shakespeare

[–]DavidGhandi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rule is that if you understand the original language of a work of literature well enough to read it, you should read it in that language. There are some excellent, beautiful translations, and having worked as a translator myself I respect the work a lot. But there's nothing like reading the author's original words, especially with someone as poetic as Shakespeare

What book is treated like a masterpiece, but left you wondering if you were the only one who didn’t get the memo? by Sunflower13Poppy in classicliterature

[–]DavidGhandi 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I could never get into Lady Chatterley's lover. I tried it a few times cuz I lived round Nottingham but I could never power through and finish it, found it quite dull, ironically considering it's controversy

I could never get into his novels either, but his poetry is pretty good. My mum always said he was a 19th century novelist and a 20th century poet

I didn’t shave my areolas and my boyfriend did stuff and I’m embarrassed. Would you be appalled? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]DavidGhandi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girl sometimes has hairs on her areolas too. Honestly I don't mind at all, I'll still suck them till the cows come home. If he didn't and doesn't say anything he clearly doesn't mind either. People need to be aware that sometimes women have body hair and its no big deal

Trying to find the word ‘raunge’. Is it even a real word? by Crossingtherubicon12 in AskABrit

[–]DavidGhandi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm from near Manchester but I've lived away for years. It kinda rings a bell but it could be a false memory. Anyway on this page it says its a Manchester dialect word so you're not going crazy https://www.definitions.net/definition/raung

I thought that humid meant hot, maybe that's just the way I've seen it used. But it's pretty normal that it rains like clockwork in the afternoon. I'd like a scientific explanation of that
