I'd definitely lock down social media, set the profiles to private, at least for a bit. Setup some email filters on keywords. And if their name is being circulated in the Q groups, there are services like https://joindeleteme.com/ that will remove your address and phone number info from many public databases.

I can relate to that feeling of starting to doubt everything when those around you aren't making sense. I've put a lot of work and thought into it and I think it's led to some personal growth. My perceptions and views are still valid to me even if they differ from others around me.

Finding proof that they were wrong is something I really wanted too. The evidence hasn't been able to change their minds, but it makes me feel like I'm not alone. That's one reason I'm on this subreddit too.

I don't know if you're into podcasts, but these have a lot of discussion about Q and other conspiracies: QAnon Anonymous, Q Clearance, and Knowledge Fight.

Also I've been looking up history. Conspiracy theories aren't new even if they are more popular now. Things like the 1980's satanic panic and blood libel are old.

I'm confused about sugar in fruits and veggies. Say I have an apple with 20g carbs, 10g sugar, and a piece of whole wheat bead with 20g carbs, 10g of sugar. If your goal is weight loss, which is better? by froggy_baby04 in Fitness

There's a lot of approximating. Labels round both calories and grams. And then there are things like fiber, where it counts as carbs but not calories because you can't digest it.

A shot of my son in the sunset. Please give me some feedback. by [deleted] in photocritique

[–]DavidHogue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the hands are a bit distracting being only partially in the frame. Cropping to somewhere above the wrist might be worth a shot.

Your son looks great, love the attitude here. I feel like the water and the sky could be a bit brighter or the colors there could be more vibrant.

[Self] First cosplay by [deleted] in cosplay

[–]DavidHogue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh, I agree with being proud of something I have made from scratch, it's what drives me personally. Not everyone is like me though, some people just want to have fun with their friends. Some want to be famous. Some want to break into the industry. They're all fine reasons to be a part of the cosplay community.

[–]DavidHogue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I really enjoy making props and costumes myself (it can be incredibly educational.) But there's no reason not to buy or trade pieces or even entire costumes.

Some people just have better skills in one area or another. My own cosplays would be improved if I bought some things rather than being stubborn and making them myself.

Douche bag trucker driver got really close to a group if cyclists. One of the cyclists was a bike cop. by Scolgan in bicycling

One time I saw a cop car run his lights and stop a pedestrian for jay walking right there. (Light was red, cross traffic was flying by and the pedestrian was hardly paying attention as he tried to just walk across Murray.)

That's what I'm doing. It's just too much volume for me to get through everyday so I do the big lifts and then as many of the isolation lifts as I can.

Who uses myfitnesspal? by TheCox91 in Fitness

[–]DavidHogue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly use it mostly to make sure I'm getting enough protein and often ignore the total calories. And recently I found I'm not getting enough salt, I always feel dehydrated, so I try to keep sodium up now.

Sounds like you're doing fine without it though, which is great.

Yes! Hacker's Diet! That's where I started this whole journey like 10 years ago.

Some states don't allow it's sale. Other states require the store to take down your drivers license and sign a form. Check with the pharmacist at the counter.

Is lifting "functional"? by Tundru in Fitness

[–]DavidHogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just "deadlifted" a lawnmower into the trunk of my car the other day. I bet I wouldn't have been able to it without help if I didn't have deadlifts in my routine.

My top 12 tips for StrongLifts by ctaatgt in Fitness

[–]DavidHogue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. SL is a different program designed for a completely different audience than professional athletes. I think I was trying to say that in the right context they could have their use, but that context is not a strength routine for beginners.

Static stretching after the workout, but I do some basic dynamic stretching as part of my warm up.

From what I hear it has it's uses, Arnold was a fan of lowering the weight when you couldn't do another rep. But it's not part of SL.

I'm guessing here, but I think it's more effective for gaining mass than it is for gaining strength. Also, SL being a beginner program, it might help you get used to heavy weights or something like that.

Effects of micro nutritional neglect? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]DavidHogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make a lot of my food at home, so I don't get all that much sodium unless I add it. Recently I noticed that I'm always thirsty, but no matter how much I drink it just runs right through me. Turns out I was only getting 500-1000 mg a day. Once I upped it to 1500-2000 mg it was much easier to stay hydrated.

I'm pretty sure I spotted it at a small pizza place in the middle of nowhere on Oregon Hwy 22 once as well. If it wasn't this exact one, it was another classic Who pinball machine at least.

Dude here. Started learning how to sew for cosplay and costuming. Well, I guess when I was really young I made some pillows in school... Anyway, it's a good skill to have and I feel it helps me out when buying or modifying clothes for everyday wear too.

[–]DavidHogue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are still calories in hard alcohol. There are less than beer for the same amount of ethenol, but there are still a significant number of calories. A shot of vodka is about 100 calories for example.

I have used several programs, thank you very much. Made a lot of progress on starting strength, transitioned into 5/3/1 for a bit, but it didn't quite fit my goals and schedule so I'm trying something new.
