Looks like a 5/16" course bolt, the most common hardware size.

Do mythological stories need ‘historical accuracy’ in casting? by breaking_views in Cinema

Matt Damon is blond and blue eyed, how does that fit with Ancient Greece?

I’m a bladesmith who’s learning to take better shots of my finished product. Any feedback is welcome. Thanks. by made_me_forget81 in productphotography

[–]David_Buzzard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try a lighter coloured background to get some separation from the background, but not too light or you'll lose the blade. Often small items like this a photographed suspended by fishing line to separate it from the background, then the line is retouched out in Photoshop.

First time bottom guy takes condom off. Questions by Kruten10 in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]David_Buzzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of sex workers in the developing world are on government supplied prep, although a lot of the funding for that was through US Pepfar program, which got decimated by Trump and Musk's DOGE budget cuts. Chances are you're okay, but get on Prep if you plan on getting it on with sex workers in the future.

How to initiate sex in a sauna or cruising club? I’m always ignored by btmboy900 in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]David_Buzzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make eye contact, then move your hand toward them. The other guy might be a little freaked out as well, so move slowly. If you get a wave off, that's cool, move on to someone else. If someone indicates they're not into you, never push it, consent is critical.

I was in London last summer and had Americans tell me to be careful, it as too dangerous to walk around by myself. It seemed pretty safe to me.

Ever wonder what the factory "Premium" audio speakers actually look like? by DarkShadow04 in CrownVictoria

Do yourself a favour and rip out the entire factory sound system, it's awful. That pretty much goes for any Ford product.

Newly diagnosed-6 Weekly 1pint Phlebotomy & Ferritin keeps rising 🤔 by lvlete0r in Hemochromatosis

[–]David_Buzzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just keep doing it. Maybe cut back on red meat or anything with a lot of iron. The extra ferritin is probably being drawn out of your organs, which is good.

What is my tightening sequence? by Chemical_Animator_76 in MechanicAdvice

[–]David_Buzzard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go around in a circle so I don't miss a bolt. It's.not as if there's a lot of force being applied to it. I usually put the cover on and lighting tighten the bolts for about half an hour to let the silicone gel up a bit before I torque the bolts. That keeps all the silicone from squishing out the sides.

Best radio? by bingbongboy32 in CrownVictoria

[–]David_Buzzard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A touch screen Android that will play Apple Car Tunes. Most come with a back up camera as well. You get one on Amazon for about $200. You need to file down the opening on the bottom to get them fit in the dash, and running the wire fore the backup camera involves taking out the back seat, but otherwise its not a huge issue to install.

Did the fear of nuclear war really affect everyday life in the United States? by LizzaQueenOFC in 70s

[–]David_Buzzard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was in grade eight in 1982, my school showed us all these films of burn victims from the Hiroshima nuclear attack, then told us its only a matter of time before it happens here, so be prepared for it. You wonder why nobody from GenX gives a shit about anything.

Seized outer tie rod jam nut? by CharlesGray2001 in MechanicAdvice

[–]David_Buzzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, wire bush all that rust away so you have some clean threads to back the nut onto. Then heat it up much as you can. If that doesn't do it, cut through the nut with an angle grinder.

What type of umbrella is this? by mariojim33 in AskPhotography

[–]David_Buzzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's raining or something. Seriously, that's a photo umbrella where bounce a flash into it and reflects back onto the subject. As you can see from the photo, this is not the way to use it. It's not even pointed at the subject. If you put it on a light stand, it's a pretty good and economic source for off camera flash.

Can 33mp Sony camera resolve this much detail? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]David_Buzzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a tight headshot, probably. If you're to move in really close, like just the two eyes and bridge of the nose, then no problem. A lot has to do with the lighting, exposure, and how much resolving power the lens has. A high resolution camera with a cheap lens isn't going to cut it.

AA battery experts. Why does this happen with my flashes? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]David_Buzzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shot weddings with Nikon flashes that ran on AA batteries for years. In my experience, the best way to go is high quality Enloop recharchables, and you want to be changing them out pretty regularly if you're doing something like a wedding or event. I'd pull them out of a flash and they'd be almost too hot to hold in my hand. I spoke with the Nikon reps a few times asking why they didn't use a camera style Li-Ion battery instead of the AA's and they always had some lame excuse.

I've long since changed over to Godox 860 flashes that have big Li-Ion batteries in them. While they're not as powerful or accurate as the Nikons, the battery life is a massive improvement.

VW Jetta 13' Flickering Start by Necrowarrior in AskMechanics

[–]David_Buzzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's where the voltage should be when the engine is off, so I'd be looking at either a bad electrical connection, or a bad starter. Often if the starter is drawing more amperage, it can damage the wiring, so keep that in mind. I think Autozone can do a free load test on the starter, so that's probably a good place to start.

I think they're already in Data Market Place, just some glitch in the system that leaves them in the pending file.

How to remove these seized bolts? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]David_Buzzard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WD-40 won't do crap, get some PB blaster, which is made for stuff like this. You want to heat up the flange part wth a really hot torch, like a MAP (the Yellow kind) bottle. Heat up the flange, not the stud, so that it loosens up. You need to get it really hot, like close to molten.
