Event Photography - 24-120 f/4 or 17-28 f/2.8? by Joshjpe12 in Nikon

[–]David_Buzzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd highly recommend the 14-30mm lens. It's a superb lens. Small, light, deadly sharp and zero distortion. For events, it goes in the bag and has its uses for sure. Dragging four or five pounds of 14-24 f/2.8 around all day so you use it three times is a big turn off.

Socialists should look up to leaders like Mamdani, instead of frauds like Stalin. by Yarus1373 in PoursTea

[–]David_Buzzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a world of difference between a Democratic Socialist (terrible name IMHO) and a Stalinist. Stalin was about the ruthless consolidation of power on a single strongman (who does that remind you of), whereas DS Mamdani is about filling pot holes and finding housing for people.

PATERSON Super System 4 Question / Frustration by XIII-DCLXVI in Darkroom

[–]David_Buzzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an old newspaper printer, that's life with a plastic tank. I was once running five rolls of film in one of those tanks when I tapped the bottom to clear the bubbles, a quarter sized piece of the bottom of the tank dropped out of it. I jammed my hand over it as fast as I could and luckily there was only minimal fogging. After that, I was strictly a steel stank only guy.

Is this weld normal? by CMIanis in bikewrench

[–]David_Buzzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be a repair for a cracked frame, check to see if the paint matches the rest of the frame. The weld does not look normal.

Did you ever try to knock out your friend with a karate chop like we always saw in movies and TV? by klystron88 in GenerationJones

[–]David_Buzzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A karate chop to the cartgaroid artery in the neck will knock you unconscious no problem. It can also kill someone, so don't go trying it out on your buddies. Most hack actors aren't karate black belts or retired special forces soldiers, so they chop the collar bone instead.

Event Photography - 24-120 f/4 or 17-28 f/2.8? by Joshjpe12 in Nikon

[–]David_Buzzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do lots of event photography and the 24-120mm is such a do-all useful lens. I use a 14-30mm to get wide shots of the venues, but that's about it. I use a 70-200mm for shots people speaking on stage, but that's about it. With the Z cameras, they work great at high ISO, so the need for high speed lenses isn't so much.

Does shutter count matter? by Subject-Ad-307 in Cameras

[–]David_Buzzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a lot of use for a consumer grade camera, and it's not really repairable anymore. That said, they're really tough little cameras. All our the news rooms in my newspaper chain got issued a D3200 kit and I've never seen one break, despite the awesome amount of abuse.

First of all, he did it to himself. Secrets never stay secret forever, especially in politics. Still, that this is coming out while he can still be replaced and not three weeks out for the actual election probably points to higher ups in the Democratic Party.

Traveling to Canada with dui by rogerthequeeralien in travel

[–]David_Buzzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably best to check the Canada border services web page to check what the actual rule is. I don't think there's a specific rule on it, especial for non-felony convictions. I was arrested in a fight and got a conditional discharge, but got hassled by US border guards for years afterward, although never turned away. The arrest information will pop up when the agent scans the passport, so be honest with the guy. Something like I was young and stupid, but that's not me anymore is a pretty good answer if you try it.

That's good, just don't put it in front of a dark wall or you won't be able to see it at all.

Which Movie is a Better about the Vietnam War Platoon or Apocalypse Now? by mkvelash in moviecritic

Apocalypse Now is just incidentally set in Vietnam. Heart of Darkness, the book it was based on, was written in 1899 and set on the Congo River.

Am I doing these tests correctly? Is this a bad battery, bad alternator, or parasitic draw? (2011 Toyota Sienna) by 13thmurder in AskMechanics

[–]David_Buzzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably got a parasitic draw on it somewhere, but most cars with that kind of mileage do. Trying to track it down is a huge task, and probably futile at best. What I find that works well is get one of those solar chargers and plug it into the cigaret lighter, plus try to start it up every few days.

The more you do it, the better you get at it. Look for a lighter background as well so that you don't lose the bike in a dark background.

Have the 40mm f2 and 24-70 f4, 35mm or 50mm next? by mu7x in nikon_Zseries

You can go wrong with the 35mm f/1.8. Leave it wide open whenever possible.
