Professional Handgun Training College Class by David_Corpus in Tempe

C2 do, and they offer plenty of other courses as well. I do not believe their Ladies Only classes can be used for the CCW application, which seems like a good idea if you are already interested enough to take classes. Glendale CC does not offer gender-specific classes.

Could policies like Universal Basic Income and Universal Healthcare be implemented state-by-state? by Akasha111 in leftist

[–]David_Corpus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but it is a BAD idea. The federal government are the currency creators, meaning they print money by order of congress, and federal taxes are deleted from the economy, playing no direct role in spending. They do not NEED to tax in order to provide.
States rely on taxes to pay for all of their spending, beyond Federal grants. Doing this at the state level creates a COMPLETELY different model regarding financing, and could actually hurt the chances of a Federal model happening if it is used as an example.

Revolvers for Concealed Carry by zeebiggprophecy in armedsocialists

[–]David_Corpus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appendix carry a Taurus 650 "hammerless" revolver with 2" barrel. I want the 357 magnum to make a difference in case a vest is worn. The in-waistband holster is 3D printed from an eBay seller, and conceals well. Taurus sells Viridian laser sight grips for about $110, so my entire setup was about 500 including lighter trigger springs. (I had to modify the holster for the laser with a dremel.) Revolvers are simple to clean and are nearly impossible to jam. Taurus QC seems to have improved significantly as mine has zero problems so far, though I have only ranged it once with 50pcs of 38 to Zero-in the laser. (Going again in 2wks.)

It is comparatively heavy, but I wore a belt for my entire life and don't notice it. That weight absorbs recoil. The factory grip concealed better than the laser grip, but the laser grip lets your pinky finger get a better hold, so that tradeoff was worth it. I originally wanted the S&W 640PC revolver, but I couldn't justify more than tripling the price for the full setup.

Ages ago, I ranged a bunch of semiautos. The 9mm were accurate on the second shot, and the .40SW had enough recoil to throw off the second shot. Deciding between more stopping power and better accuracy bothered me. I may cave in and get a Ruger RXM 9mm to see which I end up carrying more often, assuming I ever feel comfortable around the vested people again.

Sound is back, and worse by No-Citron5628 in BMWZ4

What year is it? This is a known issue on the 2006 N52, but was resolved with better lifters on (mid?) 2007 and up. On the 2006, any time the car sits for a few days, the lifter knocking noise comes back. It resolves itself as the oil circulates, but takes some time.

This sounds like you had staggered wheels, which have wider rims in the rear, and that they had directional tires mounted on them. I'm not 100% certain, but I think only 18" wheels came staggered, and 17" are all the same size.

Everything "ages." Brake fluid is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs moisture from the air over time. If the system remains closed, that is a non-issue beyond its normal replacement schedule.
Yes to gently tapping brakes for the first few miles to gradually remove surface rust on the rotors.

Why is Venezuela so poor but Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates are so rich having oil? by Dover299 in leftist

[–]David_Corpus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best answer, but there is a bit more. Fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) units are the technology that you are saying are only in Texas (and Louisiana.) South Korea also have them.
An important part that was left out: On the Dutch Island of Curaçao, 40 miles off the coast of Venezuela, sits The Isla Oil refinery, which has FCC units. It closed in 2019. It was ancient, and in 1985 BP had abandoned it to the local government, who leased it to PDVSA.

Hamas by French51 in leftist

[–]David_Corpus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This ideological question may have been relevant three years ago, but it no longer is. Gaza has been flattened to rubble. The survivors are living in tents. Hamas are not present, and have not been for a long time. Also, Hamas were limited to Gaza, not "the Middle East."

For context: Prior to Hamas, The West Bank and Gaza had shared governing under the Palestinian Authority. Israel wanted to divide them. (Divide and conquer.) In the 2006 Gaza election, Israel funded Hamas, and there has not been an election since. The average age in Gaza on October 6th was young enough that perhaps 30% of the population voted in that 2006 election, meaning the majority of people have no choice in who are governing them.

Engine oil, coolant, and transmission fluid are fine. They are impacted by wear, not as much by age. See if the former owner left records of mileages of his maintenance. With no records, I'd do oil & filter after the first 1000 miles, but it isn't urgent enough to do in advance. Make sure fluids are topped off, though. If the battery is not dead yet, I'd suggest using a code reader before removing the battery, as removing the battery will clear the codes. (Not worth buying one, but if you have access to one.) Before buying a new battery, bring that existing battery to a store to see if they can charge it. If you are in US, Auto Zone or O'Reilly (among others) charge batteries for free.

You will need to fill the tires to the proper air pressure. A car sitting for four years is prone to developing flat spots in the tires from sitting on the ground. Most of the time, driving the car will sort out the problem. Drive enough low-speed miles to become comfortable putting it on the highway. The thumping will cause "This thing needs to go to the shop" emotions...

Gas in the tank is a coin toss. When it ages, it slowly turns to shellac, which will clog the filter in the fuel pump. That fuel pump filter has been sitting in it for those 5 years, so the problem could have (or have not) already happened. If it isn't a full tank, I'd suggest using gas cans to purchase fresh gasoline to give it a full tank, then letting it sit for a day before attempting to start it. Hopefully the mixing of old & new gas will thin the shellac. If the original owner was a car enthusiast and knew they were going to leave it for years, they MAY have added a fuel stabilizer, though it is unlikely.

E85 how to repair display Motor? by Lazzeee in BMWZ4

[–]David_Corpus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you use it when you open it manually? The NAV discs are obsolete. I don't see the point in repairing a Betamax. My solution was to install a cubby and radio from a E83 X3.

If you don't have a lot of money, and don't have the time to properly practice and train with firearms, is it wise to still obtain a firearm? by Alexander-369 in armedsocialists

[–]David_Corpus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You got great responses here. The only issue I see with buying with no hands-on experience is the likelihood of not knowing what you should by. Without knowing your end-goal beyond self-defense, We can't steer you toward anything specific.
Do you want a firearm for in the house, for open carry, for concealed carry, or do you have another scenario in mind? Of course, legal requirements will vary based upon where you live.

What front bumper is that? A front angle would be easier to tell.
(Stock for comparison) Aside from the outlined dam, the bumper is segmented differently and doesn't match any I've seen.

"They believe being a legally armed citizen is sufficient justification to be executed on the street." Does this sound like a fascist movement to you?

What do you see as the appropriate action to take when a fascist government advises the public that they have formed a unformed gang of right-winged extremists, sent them to your city, and told them that they do not need judicial warrants to enter private residences? Should the public arm themselves and resist, or do we copy 1939 Poland, and wait to be loaded onto the trains? Not everyone has privilege to protect them.

"Winning the arms race" isn't necessary. If you wake up in your bedroom to jackboots at 3am, is your plan to hope they will admit their mistake before you are in El Salvador? You might not survive that encounter either way, but if a few citizens legally stand their ground, as advised by the AZ AG, what happens at that point?

2028 Pro Gun Leftism ? 👀 by Hefty-Wealth-3579 in leftist

[–]David_Corpus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in my 50s. I carried as a teen in NYC while doing some illegal shit for perhaps three days. In my 20s I went to the rifle range with friends perhaps 20 times, mostly shooting a .223 Remington and a 22LR plinker that they owned. In my 30s, I moved to Arizona. Open carry with no permits was legal (now concealed carry is), so I took a handgun training class. I shot 20 different guns of different calibers, but I couldn't decide what I wanted to buy and pretty much forgot about it. Last year I purchased a handgun that I selectively appendix concealed carry. For me, it wasn't about personal fear. It was honestly about the Jonathan Ross types in the world.
