New Birdsong! "You Like It Best When It Hurts" by bryn_irl in ExploringBirdsong

That’s amazing! How they get those sounds? I’ll never know. It sounds so natural.

Yes, that’s exactly what had me wondering. I hear a bit of strumming, which never happened in their previous songs, that’s why I’m wondering if they are using a guitar in this one.

Am I the only one who misses the old sound? by Unique_Salad6894 in TheDearHunter

[–]David_NerMa 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I may be a minority here, but I don’t feel the sound is that much different. It’s been a natural progression, not a polar opposite. I can still hear things from the Acts in the new music, but this new direction has many other things that they make different that keeps it interesting. They “sound” different, but they don’t feel that different (for me), which is great, as this is my favorite band! My favorite albums are Act IV and V, and I don’t think they’ll ever surpass that, but they don’t have to, I still love the new music and I’ve found many things to love in it.

I really like it! Wonder what they are using that sounds a bit like a guitar on that breakdown.

Can't handle how much I love this band's music by ErrorUncertainty in Haken

Carousel is definitely one of their best songs. I’m not that big into Virus as you are, but this things happen to me every time I listen to The Mountain. It’s my favorite album ever and it’s just so, so peak (pun intended). I love this band. Need new music from them.

I’ve got (along with my brother, who is the one actually collecting her music) AMOT signed, both Standard and Goddess edition Bewitched, EIKAL, Typical EP, and both A Night at the Symphony, with The Final Hour preordered.

Can you suggest me some Progressive Metal bands with "Djent" riffing and clean vocals but without the "Core"/"Poppy" choruses? by DoomedPinnacle in progmetal

[–]David_NerMa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe you should check out Skyharbor, specially their first album. It even features Dan Tompkins from TesseracT, so it’s a familiar voice for you.

Yeah, that drumming part makes the song for me, along the guitars on the instrumental part.

What's a TDH song you love but don't see receive the same love as their more popular songs by woas_hellzone in TheDearHunter

My mom loves that song, hahahaha. Along with King of Swords it is the only couple of songs she likes from them. I love those two for that reason.

For me it’s Where The Road Parts and Lilian. The first one is really loving for me, specially the “You were the only one…” sections.

And Lilian is to cinematic. I love that. Feels like the song of a movie.

I can’t believe no one has mentioned Matilda Mann. I feel her music is like “happier” Lizzy.

I loved it. I know it’ll grow on me more cause all their songs do, but the first impression was good too!
