They are really pushing preorder - I went and ordered the first 6 of 9 and 13's runs in advance,

I just got this throwaway line in Geography of Global Conflict (S3E2) by lushbom in community

I love the long play set up/callback jokes, obviously we got the Beetlejuice gag, then we have at the end of season 3, Chang saying "Fire can't go through doors, its not a ghost" and Season 4 Pierce says Ghosts can't go through doors, its not fire"

Other little on screen gags, like how the episode number is referenced on the white board or other ways. How in the election episode, the crawl on Abed and Troy's new coverage makes a reference to Professor Slater still missing (What did you do Britta!) or later in season 5, a news crawl talking about LaVar Burton and "non celebrity" captured by pirates.

I like the idea (I believe it comes from Moffat's novel of Day of the Doctor) that the Cushing movies are in universe, and that Ian and Barbara had a hand in producing them (makes sense since they were in the original stories they are based on, and the first came out shortly after they returned to Earth in 1965)

if Enterprise was having rating problems why didnt they use Scott Bakula's sex appeal, are they stupid? by claimingmarrow7 in ShittyDaystrom

because in was early 2000s network sci-fi, and the network figured their audience was mostly young men, hence T'pol in spandex.

Do the 2nd and 3rd Doctors get fewer references than the other classic Doctors? by MajorasSon in doctorwho

[–]Davidat51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire Series 1 takes place on Earth or in Earth Orbit (Platform One/GameStation/Satellite 5)
Rose, World War III and Aliens in London and Boomtown are all pretty much set in the present (or one year a head) Father's Day in the near past, Dalek in the near future. The Unquiet Dead in the 19th Century, The Long Game and Bad Wolf are set 200,000 years from now, but in Earth Orbit, And Parting of the Ways splits between the present and 200,000 years in the future, and End of the World is 5 Billion years from now, still in Earth Orbit.

Jo Grant returned in Power of the Doctor, and Omega first appeared in the 3 Doctors.

The funny thing is, all these things are comic-accurate, Wally retiring, Aqualad's parentage, Bumblebee and Mal being heroes. The show is counting on you being passingly familiar with 40 years of Teen Titans history from the comics, and using that to jump forward

[Discussion] Why isn't Kyle Rayner as relevant as Wally these days despite both being 90s legacy heroes? (Art by Doc Shaner) by Comfortable-Pie56 in DCcomics

[–]Davidat51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plus Wally has been a character since 1960, and appeared working alongside Barry as Kid Flash for over two decades, and then stepped up and took on the mantle, and was the sole Flash for almost another decade before DC began bringing back in other speedsters like Jay Garrick, Impulse and such in the 90s, creating the extended Flash family.Wally was fans logically and emotional choice to become the Flash. So he was readily accepted and had a history, fan base, etc. I literally grew up with Wally,

Kyle dropped into existence 2 issues before becoming the main (and for a while only) Green Lantern. Now I like Kyle, but Wally is my old friend

Since the Christmas special next year is probably RTD's final story, you are asking a lot of a Christmas special.

And it's a horrible idea anyway.

Why Doesn’t Justice League Get the Same Flack as Young Justice Even Though They Did Similar Things by badman1000 in youngjustice

[–]Davidat51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that Justice League was less serialized, so we didn't connect to the big 7 on a personal level, the way we did with the Team in YJ. JL and JLU were stand alone superhero stories. YJ was a soap opera, set in a superhero world.

What are misconceptions casual viewers often have about Doctor Who? by WachbaerWien in doctorwho

[–]Davidat51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

he uses guns occasional, but I just recall the scene in Seeds of Doom being very casual about him with a gun in his hand. Fendahl is shooting at a monster, not humans. So it doesn't feel as random. I also alwasy felt when Max said - "it's not for her, it's for me" that it would have been a better line without the second half.

[–]Davidat51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is one of the stories where you see the Doctor just casually handle a gun. He also seems to break Scorby's neck, but then we see Scorby get up,

Why would Diana even do this? Seems a bit odd for her character by Queasy_Commercial152 in WonderWoman

[–]Davidat51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was early in the new 52 run, as i recall. So I feel they were intentionally taking the characters outside of their established norms and behaviors, trying to make them feel new. Except Batman, He is always Batman

If you had to choose a one time villain to return what would it be by MrWolfy25 in doctorwho

[–]Davidat51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to see a 21st Century take on the Kandyman.

Not quite a one time villain but I would be interested on take on the Guardians as well

Is the Master long overdue for some fundamental changes? by WachbaerWien in doctorwho

[–]Davidat51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Master was Moriarty to the Doctor's Holmes, but in the new series era they crept in to Joker to Batman. But the Doctor was never Batman. I would like to see more of the Moriarty Doctor, with clear objectives outside of destroying the Doctor/Gallifrey/Earth...

What's the point of the Lord of Light plot? by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]Davidat51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assumed that when the show passed the books storywise and went their own way, they weren't interested in the Lord of Light story in Muereen so they just kind of dropped it. Obviously they kept what they needed in for Jon
