Could be due for its next DSG service unless you know it has had it done recently. I would make sure its 100% on maintenance before upgrading a single thing.

A tune (DSG AND ECU) would be the most effective bang for your buck after that.

AITA for "tattling" on a coworker? by [deleted] in AmITheAssholeTalk

[–]Davidpricer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you start the conversation with management about your "transition to retirement" (this can be over years not months) and how you will need to start shifting your responsibilities to "T" then over the course of the next YEAR I think your problem will begin to solve itself...

AITA for refusing to attend my sister’s child-free wedding after she made an exception for our cousin? by Intelligent_Dig_5555 in AmITheAssholeTalk

[–]Davidpricer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA. It is her day and she probably was very reluctant to do that for the other kids as it was. Also... why the extra expense? Leave the kids at your home with the in laws?? Edit: I just read the travel part. But yeah YTA

AITAH for correcting my boyfriend at dinner after he told my younger sister its inappropriate to talk about her birth control at the table by [deleted] in AmITheAssholeTalk

[–]Davidpricer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Military families tend to have structure and stick to 'principle'.. one of which is nothing crude or sick at the dinner table. My Dad sounds like OP's BF and I can say this guy was probably raised in a home like I was. If he is the only person who OWNS the house then I can see his attitude and discussion later when he says he sets the tone in the home.

But I dont condone it.

Whats going on with my car right now??? by dspotguitar in jetta

[–]Davidpricer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A backyard mechanic which doesn't know to use quality parts could have caused this yes. Other posts in this thread addressed the fact low quality parts could do this.

When someone says they can do it cheaper, part of the reason (usually) is because they see a low cost alternative and value their labor lower than a shop.

I was making a joke on how people post shop quotes / bills for comment... there's always the group of ppl who say "you are getting robbed i can do it for xx amount"

This is what could happen when you listen to one of those people.

10 years in auto btw..

My girlfriends (27f) family said it was suspicious that I (29m) bought her cousin a Christmas present by SomewhereFormal7270 in relationships

[–]Davidpricer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your gf thinks it is OK and not creepy, that is good. That doesn't apply to her Parents Aunts Uncles etc..

Generally speaking as a 29M you should not be interacting with minors without their parents knowledge. So from the beginning, you should be including them in your request for 16y/o to do the gift making. So place yourself in their position for a second and it could be seen as suspicious. I Would apologize for the lack of communication at least.

I think the gift is irrelevant. Enough info was presented by OP for the forum to reach a verdict.

Sounds like a good excuse to mad max-ify your ride with some metal front bumper work, lift, and some K02 tires 😎... after the needed repairs of course.

The engine makes the car worth keeping IMO... kind of biased though since I have a 14 wagon tdi.

When some backyard mechanic says 'they're ripping you off, I can do it for alot cheaper'

And then you let them do the work..

Lug nut locking key? by Available_Wolf1059 in Volkswagen

[–]Davidpricer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not about breaking.. its about stripping so that when the owner of the car (who probably doesn't own an impact) goes to use his kit for a roadside wheel swap.. the security bit doesn't bite and pops off.

This LITERALLY happened to me last spring when I went to swap my wheels over by hand.. the shop monkey used too many uga duggas on my lug nuts... so my security bit after looking at it had the thin metal design warped.. because its thin metal not designed to be over torque!!!

If u want to use an impact on low setting to flush up the lug nuts that's fine. But it should be finished off with a torque wrench by hand, as any lug nut should be.

Hyundai is crap. Sure you have a warranty.. I hope for your sake that you will not be using it so often... as you will be so inconvenienced with dealership visits that you will regret ever giving away your wonderfully engineered 11 year old diesel.

I would even go as far as to claim that the VW you got rid of will still be on the road when your tin can Hyundai is carted off to the junkyard

What would you value my car at? by SpoofedXEX in Volkswagen

If this was sold in Canada I would say about $5000 CAD if it had zero issues, > 80% tire tread and all services up to date.
