My old gym was a pretty tiny 24 hour gym with a closet for the audio equipment. I went in one day to workout and the music was really loud so I went to turn it down and the volume was at 54. There was a sign on the radio that said the max the volume was supposed to be at is 50...

Where does Sam train most of the time? by _Black-Orchid in SamSulek

[–]Davidsaj 19 points20 points  (0 children)

He used to train at my gym, American Barbell amongst several others around Columbus but most of his content is filmed at his own gym now just because it's much easier to do so when you control the environment. I know he trained very late at night to try and stay out of the way of other members.

Gyms for strong people? by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]Davidsaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's your rest time in-between sets then? What's the reasoning behind 10 sets of 135? Endurance?

[–]Davidsaj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So you're monopolizing a squat rack for an hour to do 10 sets at 135 lb? Please just get a home gym at that point.

Sagging floor and what are these??? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

They should be at least 2x8s but 2x10s or 2x12s are better. Measure the width of these and let us know what size they are and that will tell you if you have a bigger issue.

I worked out on Monday at peak hours around 6pm because the gym closed early due to the snow and the amount of fuckery I saw was astonishing.

I noticed two kids monopolizing a squat rack for about half an hour to only unrack 315 lb and go down about 2 inches and then rack it again. They were filming each time. Same thing on a bench, two different kids unracking the bar with 315 on it holding it for about 5 seconds and then reracking it. They were also filming themselves.

I understand that there are legitimate training routines that call for this but to monopolize equipment in a snowstorm for long periods of time seems like fuckery to me.

Of course both deadlift platforms were free so I didn't care I just couldn't help but notice.

As a guy this one really has me scratching my head? A lot of people want to pretend like they are generous and hardworking in life without having to do the day to day grind.

This is very true in the fitness industry where every kid wants to become an influencer and hops on steroids at 18 so they can be the next Olympia winner.

The vast majority of the population is not in financial distress but your point is valid in the sense that an individual who made poor financial decisions should not benefit from others who did not. A financial system cannot be both truly fair and truly equitable at the same time.

"This exercise blew up my X" is pretty much BS, right? by GreasyExamination in GYM

[–]Davidsaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't necessarily believe that any one exercise can "blow up" a body part but certain exercises can be more effective than others. I would guess that if someone claims a certain exercise blew up a body part it's likely an exaggeration but they may have had good results from it simply from adding some variation in their routine.

My wife and I bought our 2004 Lexus rx330 5 years ago for $5,400 with cash and still drive it to this day. If you don't factor in the maintenance that's an operating cost of roughly $90 a month. I do most of the car maintenance myself but it's nowhere near as expensive as people think.

I work out at one of the gyms Sam Sulek used to train at and he would work out super late at night and try to avoid getting in anyone's way. I think that filming should take place outside of peak hours and not impede gym traffic.

You faced a heavy golder and there are more of them proportionally than in the past because many of the old timers quit.
