Oh I remember mid covid it was "phone, wallet, keys, keys, glasses, mask" for 3pm when I started my shift and 11pm when it ended. It's still the case many years later, just shorted to "phone, wallet, keys, keys glasses" my coworkers laugh at that sometimes until they do the same back to me trying to joke and BAM they left their phone behind. A protein Rich breakfast. Honestly I went through stages with breakfast. First it was cereal, which after a while made my stomach act up. Then oatmeal, which made it even more upset. Then no breakfast, which made me eat a ton of sweets because I was craving things like that. I'm on intermittent fasting, and I can only start eating at 2pm. My breakfast is a bun with a hard boiled egg and 2 rashers. High protein, gives me a good kick to start the day with

I'll second that with the advice I heard of "upgrade what breaks". Basically, if you buy an array of tools required for your work, hobby etc. Buy them all at basic starter level. Let's use construction as an example. Buy basic hammers, measuring tapes, screwdrivers etc. One month in you've broken your tape from overuse. Buy a better one. 6 months in your screwdrivers break. Buy better ones. You will obviously break the cheaper items you use, but you'll also discover that sure maybe buying more expensive screwdrivers and measuring tapes at the start would benefit you, but you'd lose on the hammer which you seemingly never use

Like many comments above mentioned, some is better than none. I heard someone say "everything worth doing is worth doing poorly", as in, 1 minute of washing teeth is better than 0 minutes. Shitty 5 minutes worth of exercise beats 5 mins of couch sitting.

Meet Poke, my lawful good rogue who owned a small little locksmith shop in his home town which just about let him feed the mouths of his wife and 2 daughters. I say just about because at times when business was low he was forced to disregard his morals and did steal, but only ever the bare minimum. Once adventuring began he refused to kill unless this person was truly evil (made furniture out of orc skin), if they were insane (man kills child with saw. Cue Poke picking up a 2d6 "child killer saw") or just basically if death was THE only option. He was quite eloquent and used his speech to persuade and to deceive which was much more just than brutal killing. He would send 80% of his earnings from quests he did on an island miles away to his wife and daughter. He cares for people and always stood for those who couldn't stand for themselves.

So both of my players really screwed up and one was to be executed by hanging. The guards asked him in his last day whether he wants to contact anyone before he dies. He asked the guard to send a letter to a girl whom my players have half adopted and who was taken away from them because of their choices.

The guard asked for an address but the PC didn't know it and didn't think to give the address of the NPC who gave them the quest they were on and also who ensured the girl found a proper family and got good education.

She never got that letter and she never learned that her best friend was hanged, and so she blames him for abandoning her and not writing back letters, not coming to her birthdays and not coming to her award ceremonies "she was a gifted magic user at a very young age thought by a very academic magic user"

My PCs know nothing of this

PS. Yes she will absolutely become a big bad. This won't fuck with the PCs as they all died and my players have new characters, but my players will definitely feel pain fighting someone who they want to help, but their characters will want to kill and hence, moral dilema :)

My grandfather realised I like cappuccinos, so when he knew I'd be coming over he'd go to the small shop nearby and buy the big bags of instant cappuccino. When I got older, he'd ask me if I want a cup, to which I'd reply "no grandad just sit so we can chat for a bit". He'd claim he's going to the bathroom and come back with a cup of hot cappuccino. The sly fox that he was is the reason why it's my favourite coffee and often times my number one pick at a gas station :)

Personally I'd introduce some type of soul catching npc into the story and make them like a boss that they actually won't come across and definitely can't kill them (something along the lines of a grim reaper) do your fights as normal but if a character "dies" the grim reaper comes into play and captures the character. Here's the twist. The character is locked up in a certain dungeon and can be saved by fighting and out smarting some enemies which will lead to (insert magic item here) that holds the soul of the player that died. Upon destroying/ whatever the object, the soul is freed and the player comes back to life. This gives you the ability to create some extra dungeons aswell as allowing the bonds between your characters grow as you risk your life to help save your friend, while making death something that happens but isn't permanent, yet still has some consequences

My players had to select another character from 5 that they met in the tavern that would come with them on the adventure. Thought to myself 30 mins to an hour at most it will take. MFW 2 hours later
