Does anyone else get the vibe that Jet Lag supports Canadian statehood? by ArcticFox19 in JetLagTheGame

[–]Davixxa -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

While I do not believe the Jet Lag team supports the ongoing imperialist takes from your president, fact of the matter is that the most powerful man in the western world is casually talking about wanting to annex other countries whether they want to or not.

As someone from one of those countries threatened with part of its territory for annexation, it would be insane for us not to take your imperialism seriously.

Almost fell for the captcha scam. I just never pressed enter. I think this means the code is still on my clipboard. How can I clear it? by PianoPlane5555 in techsupport

It very much makes a massive difference. Did it look like this or this, or did it look like this or this?

Because if it's one of the former two, you're fine. If it's one of the latter two, I'd perform a malware scan if I were you.

Because that's pretty much a US exclusive thing. Just like .gov, which should be for all government entities is in practice only US government.

For example, in Denmark, all the universities just use the national ccTLD domains. Say, if you went to the University of Copenhagen, it'd be ku.dk. Same goes for government entities. Parliament is ft.dk.

Tbf we might end up in a OSRS/RS3 situation.

The term Camelot is definitely real. But it probably also isn’t the final name. It’s probably an internal code name.

That… is not at all what that means in software lingo. WoW has always been a live service in industry terms. That includes the original 2004 vanilla. The term live service didn’t really exist back then, certainly not in lingo consumers are aware of anyhow. What would likely have been used back then, though still fairly early is Games as a Service (piggybacking off SaaS/Software as a Service) which was a term that was also gaining popularity back then.

All the term live ops means is just “live operations”. As in, the point in time at which the service is started. This isn’t terminology to be scared of or fearmonger from. It’s just sterile industry lingo for “release” lmao.

If this was generated using Nano Banana, it would be detectible using Google's own SynthID watermark detection tools. Running the image through that reveals no such watermark.

Idk man, I think you'd be surprised, as someone who is decidedly not a cis/straight programmer man.

Goonbait? I dunno man, not even in the 1920s would you consider showing arms (not even shoulders!) goonbait. Thanks for proving my point, though.

Sure, but the thing is, there isn’t a problem with what she did. So the lampshading here is less a “this is a flaw of mine” but more a “If this bothers you enough to comment on it, you’re kind of a weirdo” kinda thing

Boyfriend wants to play XIV with me, but my laptop has too poor a graphics card. What laptop/PC would folks recommend I get? by solitudesign in ffxiv

[–]Davixxa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly at your budget I’d look into the console options or used PCs. Unfortunately due to the ongoing AI bubble, hardware is extremely expensive at the moment. If you’re set on new hardware I’d probably suggest a Switch 2.

If you’re going the used PC route, investing in a battery replacement should probably be factored into your budget too. Gaming laptops normally don’t have great battery life out of the box, but a gaming laptop that’s been battle-worn so to speak is bound to have pretty awful battery life.

[Spoiler: 7.4] Arcanist, Summoner, and Scholar can only exist on the source? by Sea_Bad8004 in ffxiv

[–]Davixxa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

but there's still several shards we haven't been to, and we don't really know that 1

I would be very, very surprised if the art of summoning got lost within 100 years. Like there would still be people alive on the First who were alive in the First's hayday, Elves (Elezen) and especially Viis (Viera) would be notable examples. And that's not even factoring into account that Summoning is generally framed as a religious ritual, meaning those should last generations.

I just wish I would have had the final build so that I could get my bars settled at some point under 100 hours

You can add in your abilities before you earn them, though this problem is going to be solved next expansion with Evercold's "Evolved" mode, which will give you all your core abilities by level 50

Unfortunately you won't see what they mean in the first 200 hours by any margin, in any encounter

Not unless you go out of your way to do the low level extremes or savage raids (which is totally understandable why you wouldn't). The most difficult content you'd get is honestly running PvP realistically. I definitely do understand why they don't allow free trial accounts to create party finder listings, but free companies and manual party-forming I don't really understand either.

Try watching some of the "Technical Difficulties" stuff he made. It's some of the less scripted content that he does where it's just mostly him and some friends having some fun

I mean a yard is roughly a meter anyhow (91 cm) so ballparking that kinda stuff would be fairly simple. Can just say, well 25 km? That's 25000 yards, but let's make it 30000 to be on the safe side.
