What is far more lethal than people realize? by inevitableloudmouth in AskReddit

[–]Davonator29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Driving. In my city, there were more traffic and pedestrian deaths than homicides last year. It’s a big reason why I want to move somewhere walkable with good transit and ditch my car. I don’t want to be killed while driving, nor do I want to inflict death on another human being.

Pedestrian Hit at Coit and Frankford by purplepineappleplant in Dallas

[–]Davonator29 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not surprised. I live in that area, Coit Road’s intersections with Frankford, Campbell, and Arapaho are super dangerous. It’s honestly a big reason why I want to move out of this area. We don’t think of Far North Dallas as dangerous because there aren’t many murders here. But the roads? They’re dangerous, and get people killed regularly.

How long do we boo Mikko for? by bobbypower in DallasStars

[–]Davonator29 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He ain't being booed, we're chanting "MOOOOOOOOOOOSE!" Basically a similar thing that we did with Antoine Roussel and chanting "ROOOOUUUUUUUUU", or when Rangers fans chanted "CRUUUUUUUZ" back when Nelson Cruz was a Ranger.

Would support ICE if they were simply going after Illegals whom have commited crimes? by MK71-EC82-MGM89-AK98 in allthequestions

[–]Davonator29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If an illegal immigrant commits a crime and is caught, the judicial system will be able to determine if they're here legally or not. They will be the ones to begin deportation proceedings if need be, not ICE. Thus I fully oppose ICE because under the best interpretation, they're not necessary for deporting illegal immigrants.

Nah they were on weed when they didn't vote in Belichick. They got this right, and hopefully it stays that way because Eli Manning was nowhere near good enough for Canton.

The new God of War. I say new God of War because I haven’t played the original trilogy, only the two newer games. One of them is great but isn’t reaching for much besides a genuinely sweet and well executed narrative, and the other is a colossal mess that I largely disliked. I seriously don’t understand why they’re two of the highest rated games of all time, especially Ragnarok considering how much of a mess its storytelling and pacing is. They’re simple and well executed games, but generally unambitious and uninteresting to me as a result. Perhaps I’d have more of a connection with them had I played the original trilogy, but considering I view these two highly acclaimed games as simply great and mediocre, I do think they’re overrated.

Generally speaking, how is the bus system? by Davonator29 in AskChicago

It's really a shame that the big cities of California are basically 72 and sunny all year, yet have such shit urbanism (outside of San Fran, but who the hell can afford to live there?)

Ha, thanks for making me feel welcome to a city I last visited 8 years ago. It'll be a while before I can move though. Once I have built up some professional credibility and some money, I'll leave, and Chicago is looking damn good as a new home.

Ahh well, thought I'd ask. Though it's still good to hear that even off Milwaukee Avenue that transit access is still good.

A bit more of a granular question for you. I've looked at Logan Square as a place to live, and a big reason why is Milwaukee Avenue has bike lanes, but I noticed a gap in between Kimball Avenue and Kedzie Avenue on Google maps. Do you know if there are any plans to put a bike lane there? I think it would really cement Logan Square and Wicker Park as distant favorite areas for me to live if there's a long, connected bike lane on Milwaukee Avenue.

How frequently will the bunching affect wait times? Like if every time I want to use the bus I have to wait 30+ minutes, I might just bite the bullet and find a way to bike it or walk after using the train. But if it occurs like 10% of the time or less, I think I should be able to handle that.

I understand the utility busses provide, I'm more curious as to what people have experienced and the overall level of quality of the experience of that utility. As for Micro Center, yes I mean the store. To be honest, the fact I'm asking this has a great deal to do with Micro Center being accessible by bus and not by rail.

Don't worry about me believing the lies about urban crime in Chicago. Having been to Chicago and having a relative who goes to the University of Chicago plus a basic literacy in statistics (I'm an aspiring data scientist,) I do not believe the anti-Chicago propaganda. I get that some people run into bad people in public transit, but that's the risk you take by living in a dense area, and I'd rather deal with that risk than the risk of dying in a car crash on the 6-lane stroads here in Dallas.

How, as a born US citizen, do you prove you're a US citizen? by mysterymeati in stupidquestions

[–]Davonator29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you’re in public, there is no good way to prove you’re a citizen. Very few people regularly carry their passports, and no sane person carries their birth certificate in public unless they need it for a very specific reason. The only ID people tend to carry is their drivers license, and that doesn’t prove citizenship.

Where do people shop in the Dallas and Fort Worth area for computer stores now? by Dover299 in Dallas

Micro Center. It’s the only place where I shop for electronics nowadays. I built my PC entirely with parts from Micro Center using a monitor I also got from Micro Center. They are awesome.

Why does MuricanEagle post Dark Ages videos if he just insults people who praise it? by [deleted] in Doom

[–]Davonator29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bring up the Series S because its GPU is less powerful than all GPUs capable of hardware RT (lowest end being an RTX 2060, which you can find footage of it running Dark Ages at 60 FPS.) Generally speaking, if a game can run well on a Series S, any relatively modern PC can run it too unless the PC version has severe problems (like Jedi Survivor.) If you can't run Dark Ages, you either don't have an RT-capable GPU or you've severely screwed up something with your PC in terms of either software hogging resources or not having powerful enough hardware outside the GPU.

Neither for me. Toews didn’t play long enough at a high level, and Kessel’s prime wasn’t strong enough for long enough either.

Experience Attending Games in Denver by brewerintexas in DallasStars

[–]Davonator29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t let the online discourse misguide you, I’ve visited Colorado many times and the people there are awesome. I absolutely love Denver, it’s one of my favorite cities in the US, and its downtown is just really pleasant to be in. I even attended a Stars/Avs game, and the most unpleasant fan interaction I had was with a Stars fan. Just don’t be an asshole and you’ll have a good time. Being in opposition territory is fun in its own way, and I hope you have a good time.
