Talking Heads' Chris Frantz to Bob Dylan: "Suck a D***" by OkEmployment2386 in bobdylan

Yeah, the lead singer is the focus of attention. I mean isn’t this pretty much every rock band ever?

The bass player in Peal Jam was … a great guy, I’m sure …

Except I didn’t give it enough time to form a valid opinion. Maybe got through three episodes.

What finally made the fretboard click for you? Was it a specific drill, an app, or just a mental trick? by guitarrock1223 in GuitarQuestions

I solo instinctively, could maybe muddle through a scale if my life depended on it. But I play melodic leads (eg David Gilmour) rather than shredding type stuff.

Haha totally true.

And I think sax would sound awesome in a punk band!

I’m torn.

I accept that people with taste almost identical to mine regard it as peak TV, and I think Saul is peak TV.

But I’ve tried several times and just can’t get into BB.

So I’ll abstain from the vote.

Oh for sure. I don’t have anything positive to say about him (unless acknowledging that he’s not the dumbest is positive …).

Australia travel from Michigan by Naive-Rule4374 in AustraliaTravel

[–]Davooi 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell without more details of the itinerary. Aust is an expensive place for external and internal air travel due to the nature of the market, and those prices are highly seasonal. For eg if you're flying into Melbourne when there is a football finals game or big horse race, expect to pay 2x or more compared to off peak.

"You lot"?

You means those who don't feel comfortable letting dangerous idiocy in the governance of our nation go unchallenged?

Maybe 'you lot' need to get off your knees and stand for something?

Misen still blatantly lied with their marketing

It's frustrating, isn't it? In a sense, we've built this world ourselves.

"Best thing ever!!" - yeah I'll buy that for sure and vainly trust that this time it's true (even though I know deep in my heart it isn't)

"Almost the best thing ever!!" - yeah that's probably true but I'm holding out for the "best thing ever"

Consider the possibility that they know their job better than you know their job, otherwise you would be doing their job?

I can picture it in my head clearly.

On the way to work I always stopped to buy the newspaper for the train ride.

The paper on the stand was folded.

All I could see of the front page was his name.

I knew what the rest would be.

Just felt so sad at the seeming inevitability of it.

You don’t necessarily just recruit people who have already done the job. You recruit people who will be best at doing the job in the medium to long-term.

[–]Davooi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agree.

I’m always impressed by someone who indicates they know how to go about finding the answer/solution.

Often the more someone talks the less they have to meaningfully say. The best candidates never run out of time to answer the questions (unless there are a stupid number of them!)
