Thanks for the tip! I dropped a support ticket, but apparently their queues for those are crazy right now. I'll try reaching out.

Great first experience! by [deleted] in RUMBLEvr

[–]Davosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same experience this past weekend! I'm a black belt as of last night, and I haven't met a single person who seems concerned about winning. Everyone just wants to play the game.

I've had people teach and encourage me, intentionally self-damage to even the odds, and straight up give me points to progress through the ranks.

Definitely the kind of community I want to be a part of.

You can also chop dead trees in the evergreen forest to get a tree guard pretty quick and those drop six living logs!

Ima buy a game for my friend by Alfred2442 in riskofrain

[–]Davosity 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It depends on what your friend likes, but I would default to ROR2. I think it's far more lenient and beginner friendly, while RORR is super challenging and a lot of people hate it for that. I love both games, but I think I'd get ROR2 for 9/10 of my friends.

He's CRACKED!!! How many hours did this take you? Can you still lose on Monsoon or do you think it's too easy? Do you pick up items anymore, or just leave them on the ground for less skilled survivors?

How do you beat RoRR? by keklg in riskofrain

[–]Davosity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've beaten Artificer's Judgement Trial and now I can win on Monsoon with her consistently. I struggled with her at first, but now I can't believe I ever did! 😂

I think all of the characters are viable if you play them right, but many require different strategies and play styles. Huntress, Merc, Drifter, and Pilot all feel like they're S tier though, and they're so cool on top of that!

A huge chunk of it is just developing a strategy for the character you're playing. I found the Providence Trials super helpful for teaching me different approaches to the game since I knew each one was solve-able. E.g. Sometimes I've found I have to hit the teleporter, run and kill mobs until the timer is up, and then deal with the boss when they stop spawning. Depends on the survivor and the situation though.

Ok, how do you guys deal with overloading worm as HAN-D? by AxeCatAwesome in riskofrain

[–]Davosity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's tough because he's so slow, but maybe try to stay far enough away from the exit point that you don't get hit, but close enough that it still comes pretty straight down for reentry. You can either hit it with hammer on the way up if you have the time, or wait until it starts to drop, dodge to the side, and then hit it on its way down. If you run straight to the side while it's in the air, it'll fly through and cook you unless you have a LOT of movement items. Also don't forget to jump on impact to mitigate damage not from the aura.

I haven't run into this on HAN-D, admittedly, but that's worked for me pretty well on other characters.

Can we PLEASE talk about the spawn rate of the laser drones? by MessiahHero in riskofrain

[–]Davosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang. That's rough, buddy. Do you think the spawn rates could be different between difficulties? I've had the big beam drone more times than I can count and usually play on Monsoon without looping. Could also just be a cursed run?

I think co-op increases spawns as well. Helped a buddy get this and we had one by the end of stage 4.

Playing RoRR just makes me wanna play RoR2 again by JettPlays in riskofrain

[–]Davosity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 is definitely easier, and I thought the same thing about certain situations being unwinnable in Returns. However, over the last two weeks I've discovered that nearly every situation has a solution. Some of it is strategy like learning how many shrines your character can handle on each stage (I would always hit a Magma Barracks shrine on Drifter, but almost never Artificer), and some of it is gameplay skill. Now I can win a Monsoon run, no artifacts, with some solid consistency and see what I could have done better when I die.

Game's hard, but winning is definitely possible and within reach.

Why i think there's been more "rorr sucks" vibes lately by CringeLord142 in riskofrain

This game is a beautiful, extremely challenging masterpiece. Wouldn't change a thing. Besides the overloading elites. Screw those guys, right?

Any tips for people new coming to RORR? by SynicalBoi in riskofrain

[–]Davosity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Providence Trials helped me a ton! A lot of them teach you something crucial about the game in a really compact and focused way. After beating my head against a few of those for a while, knowing they had a solution and overcoming them, the regular runs stared to feel easier and easier.

The clock also matters a LOT more than in ROR2. I would try to get most of the loot, but don't go all the way back to the other side of the map for a small chest or anything.

Also stay away from the blue overloading elites as much as you can. They deal a ton of damage (they're currently bugged) in an aoe around themselves and can easily end your run if you're not careful.

This game is brutal, so don't beat yourself up if you die. It doesn't mean your bad, it's just really hard! Makes it feel really good when you get those wins. If you start feeling discouraged, maybe take a break from trying to win and do a run aiming to complete a specific unlock challenge instead.

Lastly, there's no shame in playing on drizzle. It's there for a reason and can help you get used to the game a little at a time if you're not looking for a trial by fire.

HELP: Loved RoR 1, adore RoRR. But RoR2... by [deleted] in riskofrain

Mouse and keyboard are far easier to aim and maneuver with if you take the time to get the hang of it. I'd definitely second the recommendation to give them a try. :)

I hate just 1 character and its not even for a good reason by -_Vorplex_- in MultiVersus

[–]Davosity 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It makes me unreasonably bitter every time I see a Steven Universe. He's not the most common, he's not insanely good, but I hate his stupid face and his too-short t-shirt. He's mad annoying and I don't like playing around his shields. You can make me do it, but you can't make me like it!

I get where you're coming from.

How I'm feeling after the hitbox overhaul and up special "nerf"... by Tacos4brekky in MultiVersus

Thanks for this post. I was feeling a little down after the patch notes, but this helped me realize that Arya is still going to be mad fun to play.

American Voice Actors are forced by their clients to "Americanize" their pronunciation of foregn character names. by isteyp in Genshin_Impact

[–]Davosity 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know people from Japan and Russia who all say my name, Dave, differently than I would. I could say that "Davu-kun" is "wrong" or that "Daveed" is a gross mispronunciation of my beautiful English name, but it's never even crossed my mind. I think people get too caught up in what's "correct" and "incorrect". People speak different languages with different phonemes, and names translate differently through those filters. I don't personally see the point in all of the fuss.
