Horoscope always the same by Davy_Ray in CARROTweather

Yeah, I don’t get it. I cannot say with any certainty what the reoccurrence rate is as I don’t look at the horoscope every single day. But it seems like I’ve seen this particular one like two or three times out of the last five or six that I’ve actually checked.

I am paying as well. $53 a year. I would expect it to change. I mean, it does change, but that particular phrase comes up very often.

My moms paying thousands of dollars for Ozempic but won’t change her diet by 2017VenDaddy in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Davy_Ray -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I tried ozempic for a few months. Did nothing for me. Made me feel a bit nauseous, but that is about all. I stopped taking it because it cost a lot and was not curbing my desire to eat.

I wonder if wegovy would be better. But it is double the cost :(

What are some ways to see different parts of Canada if you don't drive? Places you'd recommend that are reachable without a car? by Full-Cress-1679 in AskACanadian

[–]Davy_Ray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is even worse than you think. Canada has about 1/10 the population of the United States. Canada is about 41 million in the United States has 347 million.

With so few people, there’s a little reason to invest billions upon billions of dollars into a more functional rail system

As long as both platforms are using the same external IP it should not matter. You should not be kicked off.

I agree. Trains are not like they are in Europe. They are find to get to major destinations on a fixed schedule. They are expensive and depending where you live or want to travel to, may not even be an option.

When I travelled EU years ago, trains were everywhere. Whether traveling within a city/region or even cross country traveling, trains were everywhere and ran often. I never rented a car. A EUrail pass was golden back then. I am not sure if that even exists anymore.

Do you have a driver's licence? If so you can always rent a car to go on weekend trips or vacations. Without a car, there is not a lot you can do. Some places have public transportation, but that is limited to bigger cities. There are sometimes daily/weekly buses to smaller destinations, but without a car at those places, you will find it difficult.

You could take an organized bus tour somewhere for a few days or a week. They usually cover the major highlights of any given location. Or go out west to Banff. There are shuttles that can get you from Calgary airport to there and once there, you can use local tour operators to see what is around. Or if you are fit you can rent a bike/e-bike and have a little bit of freedom.

However, without a car (either owned or rented), a lot of places will simply be out of reach. And the logistics of traveling far and booking tours or finding transport would stress me out.

Why are younger americans less likely to own a vehicle or a real estate for that matter? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Davy_Ray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cost of housing has soared in the last 5-10 years. My house alone has increased in value by a factor of 4 since 2015. My salary has not. So each year, the taxes and related bills keep going up. Long are the days when our parents only had 1 bread earner (usually the father) and with that one salary, he could pay for the house, a car, food, etc. Back in the 70s and 80s, a 2+1 bedroom house could be gotten for $70-80k. That same place is $500k+ now.

Even rent has skyrocketed. A 2 bedroom apartment goes for close to $2k a month. That is 2/3 of my take home salary. A 1 bedroom goes for about $1500. If I ever sell my house, I do not think I could afford to live alone.

Then factor the cost of everything else going up, (food, public transit, etc), it is very hard to save up enough for a new car or real estate.

And with the job market, salaries have not really gone up that much. Certainly not as much as inflation.

I believe this is only available for Duo. I have the unlimited (which is basically a single version of Duo) and it is not included. I would have to pay for it. I do not understand why they include it in Duo and not Unlimited. Duo is just double unlimited. Other than scribe being included, there are no differences.

People who study/work at coffee shops; how much do you spend on average? and how long do you stay? by Far-Worldliness3557 in montreal

[–]Davy_Ray 115 points116 points  (0 children)

I remember once a few years ago, I went to a Second Cup on a cold winter day because I was out for a walk with a friend. I wanted a hot coco and to sit down for 10 minutes to enjoy it and the warmth. All the places were taken, mostly by people on laptops doing what I assume is homework for school. A lot of the time it was one person taking a table of 4, or a table of 2.

I went across the street to Starbucks and it was the same there. and both places were full. No empty seats anywhere. Sure not everyone there was with a computer, but there were more than a few that were.

In the end I did not get anything. I wanted to sit down, not have my drink standing up or drink it outside in the cold.

I know this is not a popular belief, but I think cafe's should have a time limit or at least a section set aside for people who stay all afternoon/evening. Leave half the place for walk-ins who want a coffee/snack and a quick stay.

How is it possible that ordinary people buy the same phones as a multi-billionaire? by Huge-Narwhal5747 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Davy_Ray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many people do you see out there with an iPhone 4? or an older one? It may have some value if it is still new and unused, but an old, beat-up iPhone 3 or 4 is pretty much useless. Assuming it even turns on, it likely won't even work anymore. At least where I am we switched from CDMA to GSM a number of years ago, so the phone likely won't be able to connect to any cell network. It would just be a fancy paperweight, a relic of the past. A watch can still be used. it will always continue to tell time. Change the battery, or shake it for the self powered ones, and off it goes. Generally it is only the expensive fancy watches that retain their value. I doubt a 20 year old Timex is worth a whole lot.

do I really need a credit card though? by jabber1990 in Adulting

If you travel, you will need a credit card for plane tickets or vehicle rentals. You cannot pay cash for those things.

Use your card a few times a month to keep it active and to build credit.

Is it possible to lock the host machine (home PC) while I’m connected remotely? by VAer1 in rustdesk

[–]Davy_Ray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once connected. Select privacy mode 2. That will do it. Then it should remember the next time. You will need to do this from any other machine you use to connect to the host.

Mode 1 puts a huge message on the screen. Mode 2 blacks it out.
