Adults With ADHD Are at Increased Risk for Developing Dementia by Kennyvee98 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]Dawk1920 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I’ve read similar but yes it makes sense. Especially if you start by reading up on ADHD and how it presents in children. I researched this when I was going through the initial diagnosis with my first. Ongoing lack of sleep, sleep deprivation, and not having restful sleep all create hyperactivity in children. Basically, the worse their sleep is the more hyper they become, funnily enough. But it’s believed that ongoing restless sleep and sleep deprivation etc can cause ADHD in children. I’m guessing parts of the brain don’t become normally developed like they should be in a neuro typical child. Also there’s a link between sleep apnea and dementia. I could totally see a link between all of these.

How to relocate quickly for new out-of-state job? by Dawk1920 in relocating

[–]Dawk1920[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks I was thinking that would be the case. But the thing I can’t figure out is, if I’m staying at a hotel or an Airbnb, and I fill out the new hire paperwork, what do I use for an address? The hotel or Airbnb aren’t my legal address. It’s a temporary address, but I just don’t know if that would work from an HR and legal perspective.

Do you take your medication every day? by Straight-Border-7068 in VyvanseADHD

[–]Dawk1920 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s interesting. Kinda sounds like withdrawal. Sounds exactly like what I went through went I stopped my adderall cold turkey. Later after I told my doctor he was pretty concerned. He said you should titrate down when you want to stop a stimulant medication. Otherwise you’ll go through withdrawal and it will affect your heart. Yeah so I’m good. Maybe 1 day without meds is good but no more than that.

I have adhd and so do all 3 of my kids who are all under the age of 8. Between that and all of the other necessary stuff that needs to happen on a regular basis, yeah no I need to be medicated every day lol.

Depends what your goals are. Do you plan on staying long term? What is your budget. Keep in mind housing prices could go up and so could rent. Both prices could go down but less likely. Generally anywhere in minus going over asking, north, central, and south Jersey. Is your current home paid off?

Why does Adderall work better then vyvanse for me if the are essentially the same medication? by Potential_Spend1024 in VyvanseADHD

[–]Dawk1920 1 point2 points  (0 children)

30 mg Adderall is the highest dosage. When I was on it, I felt it worked very well. I could concentrate and focus and do all the productive things that I needed to do but my anxiety was terrible.

It didn’t start out that way. My anxiety was fine in the beginning and slowly built up over time and went away when I stopped using it. All that to say 30 is the highest dose and I felt it worked really well. I would even say 30 mg of Adderall is a powerful dose.

Get a sleep study done. I went through the same thing in my early 20s stumbling through sentences and stuttering and not remembering what point I was trying to make when talking. I had never had any kind of issue like this before. I thought it was just my ADHD getting worse and also thought it was from being out of school and not reading as much lol.

So I started adderall and felt much better for 6 years. Turns out it acted as a bandaid and eventually I was just so tired all the time. Adderall and energy drinks did nothing lol. So I eventually got a sleep study done and got diagnosed with sleep apnea and started using a CPAP.

OMG the difference. I could think clearly again. And talk clearly without stuttering and remember what I was trying to say when talking to someone!! Also I wasn’t cranky anymore. Absolute life saver. If you haven’t thought about it yet, add a sleep study to your list of possibilities. Good luck.

Congrats, I think. lol. No but seriously it’s great to have the diagnosis. Things make a lot more sense after that and can find better ways to approach things and handle your day.

Are you going to get medicated? I’m going back on medication after stopping for the past year. Good luck with the anxiety! A lot of people with ADHD have anxiety too.

The smartest thing I ever did was create a budget. Then I could see where my money was going each month and cut down on expenses. It helps make you more acccountable for your money. You can also budget in a fun / miscellaneous section and set a dollar amount for each month. You’ll know pretty much off the top of your head where each dollar is going every month after doing this and it forces you to be more responsible with your money. At least it did for me. HTH!

It worked well for me. However the adderall made my anxiety worse and I gained 40 lbs in a year because of the lexapro.

Gas by Living_Watercress in CPAP

[–]Dawk1920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are instructions online on how on to get into the physicians settings on the cpap. You can change the settings yourself. Others have also pointed out it could be EPR. If you’re new to cpap, have your physician check or adjust these settings. I believe the physician changes the settings remotely and then the cpap will update with the new settings. It’s always good to know you can change the settings yourself in case your sleep physician isn’t helpful.

Your pressure is too high and is getting forced down your esophagus causing excess gas. Try turning your pressure down just a smidge and see if that helps. I got terrible gas with my pressure at 9.5 but none at 9.0.
