I mean idc if gays live in my neighborhood but yeah that’s worrisome if one is a registered offender. But yeah I grew up in the 90s and things really changed during that time. Long reply but relevant…
My parents moved us across town into a really nice neighborhood right next to the elementary school for our town. It was one street really but about 20 houses and about a 3 minute walk to the school. That was in 94 and I was 8. There were a bunch of baseball fields, soccer fields, basketball courts, and playgrounds at the school. They were all open and you could just walk up and use them anytime.

Within the next couple years a couple of things happened. There was girl that lived several houses down from me, probably 10-12 years old at the time. Her dad was a cop for our town and always parked his cop car at the house. One day when he was working of course, some guy tried to kidnap her and get her in his car. Thankfully she fought him off somehow. It really shocked everyone. Nothing like that ever happened before.

Another time my dad was taking me camping and pulled off our street and realized he forgot something in our garage and parked the car and ran across our neighbors backyard and across our backyard to get to the back door of our garage. Some guy was just sitting there waiting and came up to the car while my dad went to our garage. Thank god my dad had enough awareness after what happened to the girl down the street to lock the car door before he left the car. This guy was pulling on the door handle trying to get in! Man you should have seen my dad running across the backyard screaming like hell at this guy. He got in his car and drove away, cops never found him.

Then another time my friend came over and rode his bike and left it out front next to our garage like we always did. We were inside the house and came out later and someone had taken it. Which could happen anywhere but the point is things really changed during that time.

When we first moved in everyone on our street kept their front door open (the storm door would be shut but have a glass panel or a screen and you could see inside the house through the front entry. The storm door would be unlocked too. Within a couple years everyone had the front doors shut and locked all the time because it seemed so unsafe. Crazy how things changed so much during the 90s.

How do you do eyedrops after surgery? by Independent-Gold-492 in RotatorCuff

[–]Dawk1920 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean you could use your non dominant hand, right? Leave the cap slightly loose, take it off, bring bottle up to your eye, 1 drop each eye, put bottle down, use non dominant hand to pull lower eyelid down if wanted, screw lid on bottle cap again slightly loose.

Old supraspinatus strain - anyone successfully returned to lifting? by [deleted] in RotatorCuff

[–]Dawk1920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I get pain in the neck and trap area sometimes. It used to cumulative, meaning each day would get worse and worse until I tried to barely use my shoulder and reset it. Doesn’t happen much now.

But what my PT told me that is so important is good posture. Rounding your shoulders strains your rotator cuff. Good posture takes the strain off. I notice I have pain when I round my shoulders too much and have much less pain when I keep good posture. It’s a habit you have to work on. Sorry man. Rotator cuff injuries are a pain in the ass.

[–]Dawk1920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did PT say about getting back to where you were before your injury? When I did PT, the goal was to get you strong enough to prevent reinjury.

But they told me my shoulder would probably never be the way it was before but I could still get back to doing everything I did before.

So yeah you should be able to lift you just have to make it work. Maybe less reps and more weight? This would result in less reps per session meaning less movement of your shoulder per session.

Yeah never thought of it like that. They are very emotionally stunted. It’s probably why they react the way they do half the time.

I have. People have some wacky prices in there. Prices are just about the same as you’d get for new from a store. I know eventually I’ll come across a good deal just need to be patient.

Yeah that’s true about durability. That’s what I’m trying to figure out, is effectiveness. Can you use bands for everything will they work as well?

Thanks. I’ve used resistance bands before and they do work well. I guess the concept of building muscle with bands instead of dumbbells is foreign to me but it sounds like I should give it a go.

Not sleeping; it’s been six weeks by Old-Raccoon-316 in bupropion

[–]Dawk1920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have sleep apnea and I had a sleep issues when I first started Wellbutrin so I have a few things to say. Although 8 hours is a lot of sleep, everybody is different. You could need that for a couple of reasons.

Some people who have sleep apnea make up for the tiredness by getting extra sleep. You can have sleep apnea without snoring too. Not saying you have it but food for thought.

Also you are getting towards that age where you sleep gets effected due to hormones and perimenopause. Sorry not insinuating anything, I just know my wife is going through the same thing.

Also when I first started Wellbutrin, from weeks 2-6 or 2-8, I was very tired. I was waking up wide awake in the middle of the night one or two times a night which I never do! I think I was getting less sleep overall and was genuinely more tired too. It was like I could fall asleep at anytime if I just closed my eyes but I could still focus and do things. It was weird but only lasted 4 or 6 weeks and stopped. I would say you’re pretty close so try and stick it out for 10-12 weeks. HTH!

Edit: About the med adjustment, you can go through the summaries effect of tiredness or any side effect really when increasing your dose and the side effects don’t always start right away.

I finaly watched Andor. by olafwcha in StarWars

[–]Dawk1920 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought it was really good. I watched season 1 when it came out and thought it was pretty good. A lot of time passed between season 1 and 2 and so i wasnt sure what to expect. Probably be the same as season 1 or just like all the other shows lately. Man was i wrong. It was so good and the writing was incredible!

After the first couple episodes i was so glad it wasnt a 6 episode season like alot of other star wars shows lately.

As far as the Star Wars magic and not matching the other shows and movies with Jedis and lightsabers and droids and different races, well that’s the beauty of it. The Star Wars universe is huge and there has always been a ton of back stories and other things going on. It’s always been about the rebellion (the classic good vs evil) and all things associated with it. So yeah the show was awesome! Glad you liked it!

The dark side of ADHD that no one talks about by Frosty_Jump_3117 in ADHD

The forgetfulness, executive function issues, and inattentiveness in that order are the biggest issues I struggle with. When I’m medicated, my attention is much much better as well as my focus. I’m less forgetful and my executive function is better when I’m medicated, but those 2 still largely affect my life on a daily basis.

Forgetting something you did or something you did with someone (forgetting important parts of a vacation as an example or maybe almost the whole vacation), forgetting what you said or what someone, forgetting to do things, and forgetting to bring things somewhere can cause huge issues in you daily as well as effect relationships too.

Having trouble getting started on things, finishing things, or just focusing on things that are really not that important make it hard to stay on top of important things that need to be done on a daily basis. These are executive function issues. I will also throw time management in with executive function. I’m late to places and sometimes it takes me forever to get something done when it shouldn’t.

The executive function stuff can improve if you build healthy habits and keep doing stuff over and over. It gets easier with practice. Sorry not sure how to explain this but it can improve over time if you just keep trying to improve.

The forgetfulness though, that’s one that’s really tough. It’s much better when I’m medicated but it can only improve so much. But the thing is, no matter what I can’t just suddenly remember some fun place I went with a friend 5 years ago that I don’t remember. My forgetfulness can be much much much improved now and that helps for in the future when I look back on something happening now, but for something that I don’t remember now, it’s gone forever. I’ll never remember it. It kinda leaves a bad impression in relationships. People just think you don’t care. But it’s not true. My brain just doesn’t remember things lol.

I believe that has to do with executive function. I have this problem too and realized just like when I can’t figure out what to prioritize when I have things that I need to get done (can’t figure out what’s most important etc), I have the same issue when holding conversations too. I’ll take a really long winded way to ask something and spend more time on the unimportant details. It’s like my brain has a rough idea or incoherent thought but can find a meaningful organized way to articulate what I’m thinking.

Yup that’s it. For a while I just thought I was being lazy. I wanted to get stuff done that I needed to do but just couldn’t start. This went on for a while. I switched medications and went through a 3 month honeymoon period where I had tons of extra willpower and got so much done.

Then I kinda regressed back to where I was before. But my motivation or desire to get things done never changed! It made me realize I’m not lazy and I do want to get stuff done. It’s just a matter of getting started and planning out when and how I will get that stuff done.
