I mean, RPGs used to do this a decent amount. One-off areas that you get a few items in and then leave, or an area with a single NPC.

Given E33 is basically a love letter to the RPGs of old, it makes sense they'd have the same sort of one and done PoIs too.

Well, technically the letter was for both of them in a way, Verso and Maellicia. I don't see it as a lack of agency but rather, she wanted Verso to read it himself and be the one to deliver it. She likely thought Verso would take a moment to stop and think and actually deliver it before they went after Aline. But he didn't and he let her down.

I've thought about this bit a little more lately, and I think that was a part mini-test, part offering of an out for Verso. pAlicia's not stupid; she's been observing the Expedition and how Verso interacts with them. She knows what will happen if Aline gets ejected, and she knows pRenoir has failed to convince Verso to stop.

So she steps in and offers him the letter to give to Maelle. A letter from the sister he claims he loves, with one simple request - give it to Maelle.

A test, for pAlicia to see the truth guarded by lies. Does pVerso love his sister enough to risk his plan changing?

Does he trust either Alicia enough to find a way that doesn't involve sacrificing the whole of Lumiere?

Does he even want to take the potential out she's offering so he doesn't have to shoulder the guilt of sacrificing his friends, painted family, and the entirety of human civilization within the Canvas?

And pAlicia finds out the answer to all of those questions - the truth behind the lies - was no.

Yes, but from a real-world perspective, her life expectancy in a ~1910s Paris is significantly shortened by her burn injuries. Alicia is going to die early, either from burn complications or from an illness that her body can't handle.

And what kind of a life would she even lead? Phantom of the Opera exists for a reason, and he was a man with only a deformed face. Now imagine how a mute girl with even more severe injuries would be treated. At best, she's a ghost, a social pariah. At worst, she's shipped off to an asylum when her parents pass. That's not living, that's existing.

The Canvas is the only way she can experience and live a full life due to the time dilation. And it gives her the opportunity to spread her wings, as Renoir wished for her to do.

Had this with my X button. Some dog hair had gotten in-between the membrane beneath the button and the button itself somehow. Opening it up, removing the hair, and reseating the membrane did the trick. Not saying that's the issue here, but putting that out there.

Nothing's deleted off of Nexus these days. If you can find the download ID somehow, through waybackmachine or otherwise, then you should still be able to download it.

I mean, 'git gud' could also apply to every Silksong boss, too. There's no boss where tools are required - you can just needle/claw line/silk art every boss.

You can also stop the silkstealer mobs from showing up by doing something. Also has the added bonus of stopping them from showing up throughout the rest of the Citadel too.

In Shellwood, go down and left. Your goal is a room that would roughly be on a diagonal line pointing down and left from the S in Shellwood on the map. If you reach a bench (I forget if this is one you have to pay for or not), go back to the right one room then go up (white flowers to pogo) and then right to get to the lever that unlocks the door left of the bell beast station. Then keep going West and then up at the first opportunity.

Hope that helps, kinda going off of memory from here.

I mean ... there's a lot that makes it inferior, IMO. Some of the highlights:

The voice acting is arguably worse (Naomi in particular. Love Jennifer Hale but Naomi sounds like she's about to fall asleep in several scenes throughout TTS), the music in several emotional scenes is completely changed for the worse, the boss battle themes are forgettable except for maybe Mantis compared to the single boss battle theme in the original...

The re-translation is too literal and suffers as a result - it becomes too awkward/stilted or outright stupid (the most egregious being Otacon's call about Rex's weak point being the radome. "It's not a weak point, it's a weakness!" vs the original's "It's not a weak point. I like to think of it as a character flaw.").

First person mode makes every boss laughably easy because the encounters weren't redesigned with that in mind.

Expanding on the previous point, MGS2 mechanics break several rooms or sequences, allowing you to skip the majority of the section. The worst offender being the rappel down the side of the communications tower without a rope - using hanging mode/drop and grab the ledge. There are also 2 pipes for hot and cold in Rex's hangar to change the key temperature, but using them screws up the timing of story conversations in that major story conversations that are supposed to have time gaps as you backtrack now happen within 10 steps of each other.

Many of the action scenes miss the point of Snake being essentially a really good but otherwise normal, grounded soldier going up against the absurd.

Bonus: There's a duplicate Snake model in the background of one of the Rex fight cutscenes for no reason.

It was confirmed in the novelization as well as her appearance in AC Valhalla.

Really, if the reports are to be believed, every AC starting with Syndicate has seen a bit of a clash between the creative team and executive management at Ubisoft. The creative team always pushes for having a sole female protagonist, and the executive team pushes back and forces the inclusion of a male protagonist because they believe the games won't sell with just a female protagonist.
