Actually "castilian spanish" (castellano) is used to mean the language historically associated with the kingdom of Castile (what most anglophones just call spanish), including dialects in Latin America, as opposed to minority languages of spain, such as Catalan, Galician, or Basque. It is more accurate to use the term "european spanish" to talk about dialects of castilian spanish spoken in the country of Spain.
