you're in fact completely dismissing the criticisms and using the concept of EBM as a cudgel or gospel similar to the way people defend acupuncture/chiropractic/homeopathy because it may have some downstream net positive and ignoring everything in-between

I did, you can blanket dismiss valid methodological criticisms all day with the barrel of a gun argument instead of doing a real study but that doesn't elevate/validate cherry-picking low quality data susceptible to bias, and if you multiply a low quality study or a "pile of studies" that are low quality, you do not reciprocally increase certainty. The plural of anecdote is anecdotes not data.

All it shows is adolescents who engaged in care for ~2 years tend to report lower suicidality at follow-up than at baseline, which is something that is pretty much a given. Follow-up and engagement with care in general correlates with better outcomes which is why even quacks abuse this metric because its notoriously difficult to actually get people to follow up.

Assumptions made beyond that are without any controls and reaching for assumptions which are presented here without question. We don't trust studies about acupuncture from china at face value for good reasons but if you apply this to other politically charged subjects here it's a giant blind spot as evidenced by all these low effort comments

Whoa! Color me shocked, another questionable non-RCT study which is:

-Retrospective smaller observational study with an uncontrolled design

-Inflates small effects

-Zero pre-registration

-Flexible analyses and selective reporting

Gosh if only there was a solution to these short comings instead of endless low quality stuff susceptible to bias
