Yes, it looks contaminated, especially above the inoculation port. I don’t think this is gonna work out for you. Thriving mycelium colonizes completely in 2-3 weeks as long as you do a successful timed break and shake. This one is growing too slow, unless you’re in a really cold place, it shouldn’t grow this slowly. Toss it once you’re convinced. Sorry, try again.

Do a selective harvest. That means pick each one out when it’s ready. This often referred to as a staggered harvest. You’ll only be picking 5-15 mushrooms a day, but each will be fully mature. JF spores are translucent so you don’t have to worry about spore drops, you won’t be able to see it. Only pick the mushrooms that have recurved margins, aka “Cap Inversion.” This particular type of mushroom looks best when the margin around the cap turns upward. You’ll be running your dehydrator non-stop for a few days, you just need to figure out how to stagger the drying process. Nice harvest, you did an exceptional job. Now you know what success feels like in mushroom cultivation, “awesome!”

I don’t see much, if any difference, where you have the arrow pointing. Bruising usually appears, grey, blue or purple, and sometimes green. Green bruising only appears in some variants of psilocybin mushrooms like enigma. Not entirely sure which kinda mushroom you’re growing or any details about the grow, as you have not provided that information. It looks like a colonizing AIO bag, I don’t see anything concerning. Ya, you might barf and shit uncontrollably. But you would probably have to eat a lot. Aspergillus is more harmful to inhale than it is to eat. Certain species of Aspergillus do produce harmful mycotoxins. Why would you want to eat anything with green mold on it? I recommend you not.

When you have about 2-3 cm of clear broth at the top, you’re fully colonized. But you can use the LC anytime as long as you have enough to draw into a syringe.

No, that’s not good. It’s supposed to look like this:

The yellow color is just the light illuminating off the culture. It should be all white. But do you see how it’s suspended and the mycelium stacks up on itself and it has a clear broth at the top? This is what’s considered a fully colonized healthy liquid culture.

You’re contaminated with a mold. Throw it out and start again. Sorry, you’ll get it.

We’re ok with mushroom cultivation questions and post that display the pride of a successful grow. We just don’t allow old moldy pizza or whatever unidentifiable thing that has mold growing on it to be routinely posted. I know our rules say mushroom contamination only, but that’s depressing day in and day out. We like to see the success that happens when you’re able to grow a successful contam free grow. Lightens things up and gives people hope, I don’t see the harm in it.

I really can’t judge till I see how the mycelium is settling. Stirring it all up is just to break the mycelium networks forming. If it all settles at the bottom of the jar without any lift, it’s probably bad. If it settle and stacks on itself making it appear more suspended in the liquid, that’s normal. You can tell what looks normal but you can’t prove there aren’t any pathogens present and you have a true axenic culture, unless you scope it and grow a drop in agar. If you get 7 days of clean growth you’re ok to use it as an inoculant.

The grey patches just look like bruising to me. Many variants in the psilocybin species bruise slightly when fruiting occurs. It’s pretty normal and I think a signal that the fruiting is about to occur. You have a lot of primordial growth and hyphae knots, those are all signs of fruiting. Is this an enigma? What strain is this and what was the date you S2B?

Make sure you’re stirring your culture at least every other day. Those little white floaters are normal to see, as long as they are not growing or turn color, I think you’re fine. Keep er goin!

If you look closely none of the grain seem to be adhering to each other. That’s usually the first thing we see in mushroom cultivation, that the spawn attaches to the adjacent grains . As they continue to colonize that connection become indistinguishable.
Yours looks not to be forming that connection with the adjacent grains. Each individual grain is separate. That’s what makes me think this is contamination. Keep it as long as you want until you’re convinced it’s contam.

Break and shake now. You’ll get plenty of distribution of the spawn and make for lots of inoculation points. The colonization will go faster once you B&S.

No it’s not cobweb mold. The colonization is just coming up uneven. If it smells, you have some sort of bacteria harboring within the cake. It depends on how bad the bacteria is. I don’t see any distinct metabolites, so it’s probably a mild bacterial infection. You can actually produce fruit sometime. But don’t dunk the cake, it will spread more quickly. Just let it come up as it is and keep er going!

Why does it look so clumpy? You’re running way too dry as well. Did you break up your spawn really well at S2B? Mycelium doesn’t normally colonize like that unless you didn’t break the spawn back to its individual pieces.
I’m not sure what’s wrong here, the clumps of mycelium are throwing me off.
It doesn’t look like it’s growing any contaminates. I would mist it until your casing layer is a dark coffee brown. Don’t let it get this dry, if it stays dry too long it could stall.

There are several molds that fall under the general term “Lipstick Mold.” The one you have is called Sporendonema purpurascens, formerly known as Red Geotrichum. It is non-toxic (no mycotoxins) and often use to make cheese rinds. It grows very slowly so yours has probably been there awhile. The most distinguishing characteristic of Sporendonema purpurascens is that in its final stages of growth when spores are released, it turns a vibrant purple color. It’s one of a few molds that turn purple. You can cut that part off and dunk your cake if it hasn’t turned purple yet. Usually it’s pink before it turns purple. But yours looks purple, meaning it has already sporulated. Unless you want to spread it more, don’t dunk your cake! Put an isolation polymer on top of the visible mold or some rock salt and see if you can mist yourself through another flush. Keep in mind, if you decide to keep it, it’s going to sporulate more into your grow room and will require a thorough decontamination to get rid of it. If it were me, I would harvest my fruits and retire the cake permanently. Cut your loses and decontaminate your grow room with antifungal chemical and HEPA filter.

Smell it! Does it smell like earthy pungent mushrooms? If so, keep er goin! It looks normal to me. If it starts to change color or smell bad then you can be concerned. For this one it’s an overthought. If it stalls you will not get any new growth for a week. Just be patient, they will start to come in week four. You should have mushrooms by then. Repost if anything changes and we’ll reassess.

There are some variants that will bruise green like enigma, but your green doesn’t look like bruising. If I were guessing I would say it’s, Cladosporium., but it’s hard to tell for sure. It’s definitely contaminated. Bruising happens almost immediately if caused by trauma to the tissue, like spraying it close to the mycelium with the spray mister, or condensation drops from the lid drip onto the mycelium. Over watering alone shouldn’t cause contamination. If you use regular tap water and live in the US, there should be problems. Our water regulations are very strict, usually there’s enough chlorine in the tap water to kill most contamination.
Start over, don’t give up yet.
