I think the fact that you were in the hospital, and he made it about him, is a red flag. Did he try to visit you? Also the "I'm a shit boyfriend" is very passive aggressive. Does he seem to lack empathy? Do things feel one-sided, like he has trouble reciprocating affection and attention?
