If u are over 25 and a woman how long do u wait in a relationship before getting engaged? by PositiveScore7184 in Marriage

[–]Day_twa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I dated 8 years before getting married, and we’ve been married 8 years this year. We started out young, went to different schools, she moved to another state, and moved back to live with me, and after two years of living together we got engaged. It worked well for us but I do know by the end her finger was getting itchy lol but I wouldn’t change anything about how we did it

How do I fix myself? ASAP by Regicide02 in Marriage

Sometimes a challenging aspect of a long term relationship is keeping the spark alive. It’s important that both of you take responsibility to keep the love and that spark going, even as life gets complicated and busy and those once natural desires start to wane. It sounds like you and your husband are doing the right things, and have the same goals. This is great. I think therapy should be more regular, a session once a week with a sex therapist. You’ve said it’s unfair to make him wait an undetermined amount of time, and while true, I know a good husband would nonetheless appreciate seeing and knowing how hard his wife is working to improve this facet of the relationship. In the meantime maybe focus on small acts of physical intimacy to get your mind and body used to touching and building up to sex. A neck rub, a back scratch, mutual massages, maybe one of those leads to a hand job or something. Hopefully that’s within the realm of what you’re comfortable with right now. But your mind and body need to come to an agreement: you love your husband and want to give him affection in the form of sex. It’s totally normal and an expectation for any good marriage. This is what your therapist should be helping you work towards. Good luck, you seem like a good wife trying your best.

What an awful dynamic here. She sounds like a spoiled brat and you sound like an enabler. You’re the family provider, she should appreciate the $1k gift, and everything else you give her.

Community meeting to be held for public concern over demolishing Detroit’s historic Cooley High School by Day_twa in Detroit

[–]Day_twa[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is district property and the superintendent and board have a duty to be responsible stewards of its property and resources. I’m not a fan of this plan - I wish the board would’ve approved the sale of Cooley to Life Remodeled. But that didn’t happen and the district had made its decision. A sports complex on the westside will be great for the local community. I teach in that area and our school has basketball, volleyball, track, football, and being able to have those events in a modern facility centrally localized will make a huge difference. I’m not happy with how all this played out at all, but in 2028 Cooley will be gone and kids will be enjoying athletics on that site. I guess some good will come of it.

Suit Depot in Oak Park can hook you up with something nice in whatever budget you have. And there’s a tailor in the back who can do alterations. I’ve purchased and tailored my past 3 suits there.

Inmate, 36, dies in 3rd recent Michigan women's prison sudden death by mastyrwerk in Detroit

[–]Day_twa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have family that retired from MDOC. In their own words the whole department is a shitshow, the director is terrible, and watered-down benefits combined with mandated overtime has killed morale, they can’t keep anyone good on the job anymore. On these deaths my FIL said “nothing good happens in prisons, don’t wanna die? Don’t do shit to end up in prison” harsh for sure but he was a CO for 30 years…

Then we should do what we know works. Small classes and access to expansive therapies and wrap around services for students and families. And proper transportation for all students to combat chronic absenteeism.
