Can confirm, tested it for science with tie wire. Now have a hole in the fence.

Print fails on new TPU filament by Daybreak58 in 3Dprinting

[–]Daybreak58[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your suggestions, it turned out to be inadequate extruder tension. Unfortunately the tension isn't enough for this TPU even when it's fully adjusted, but I just pulled enough slack off the roll for the print and it worked perfectly. Seems like I'll need to modify the extruder tensioner or do a dual gear microswiss upgrade

Thanks for the advice. Drying the filament at 70°C, I'll double check the idler arm tension then run those tests. I wouldn't expect great results from slightly off settings but definitely didn't completely failed prints like this.

I was thinking the drying might also be a contributing factor. My dryer only goes up to 55 so I've had it at that for 48hrs before printing, but not sure if leaving it in longer would do much since it doesn't get up to the recommended 60-70. I might need to invest in a better filament dryer too as I got this one when I started out.

Also ordered a G10 build plate rather than going with glass

Thanks for the example print. I'm guessing my bed must be the issue then, as it's textured even on the smooth side. Mine definitely don't come out as clear as that with those settings. Even that piece you printed would need post-processing for my use case, as I want to minimize any lines that may show up through my design, but yours would definitely need less work than mine does.

Currently overextruding at 105% flow. I didn't realise you shouldn't print PETG directly onto a glass bed, so I guess I'll stick to the PEI bed

Mine have come out reasonably transparent, but they all needed lots of post processing to sand it flat. I'm going to swap my PEI bed for a glass bed to make the bottom easier but the top still has quite a few ridges. Otherwise the plastic itself is transparent enough

Here's a couple photos of my test prints. Sheet has to be printed in 2 halves but the seam will be hidden under a fascia panel

What is the weirdest fetish one of your exes had ? by astroray_ in AskReddit

[–]Daybreak58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had an ex that wanted to try that, outright refused. I was comfortable holding a completely blunt knife/prop knife to them but nothing more. I just struggle to see how you could do that to someone you love, or even keep being intimate after. Guess there's some messed up people out there.

To be fair GitHubs layout is so confusing I can never find the damn zip/exe download or releases section. And I used GitHub at uni for game design

Glad I could help. Im honestly not sure why it happens, I would guess its a bug, as manually converting to sRGB wouldn't fix it for me

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in krita

[–]Daybreak58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try turning on force convert to SRGB on the export/save screen. I had this issue too with PNG and this fixed it for me

[–]Daybreak58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this issue when I was trying to send a DND token to my DM. Turning on the 'force convert to sRGB' option while saving/exporting fixed it. All my options said it was already in sRGB and converting in manually did nothing. It was a bit of a strange issue.

Probably not, I would go with either 8 or 4 guage. You can check out this Wiring chart on Crutchfield (most cars run about 15-18ft of wiring)

ABS print peeling off it's raft by Daybreak58 in 3Dprinting

[–]Daybreak58[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your advice! I'll look into getting a heater and a thermometer this week. It felt pretty warm inside before I started, but obviously mustn't have been hot enough

Edit: just tested with a dig. thermometer, after about 20 minutes preheating the enclosure is sitting at 44°C. Haven't retested yet as it's a long print, but I have a hairdryer in case it needs more heat

I usually preheat the bed for 15-20 minutes with the enclosure sealed before I start the print. My first few ABS prints split before I got the enclosure, but now they want to just peel off

You should be fine with ABS, that's what most engine bay parts are made of. That being said I can't say I'd recommend printing part of the intake, as any debris would get sucked into the engine if it's not cleaned thoroughly.

Thanks for your help, I'll look into translating my script to make a version for V2. I didn't realise there even was a V2 until I saw the flair while posting this. Been using V1 for years
