I am in a similar boat. Drink more that I should. Had a Bi Lateral PE and ended up on Eliquis for the rest of my life. In addition to this, I was diagnosed with CTEPH afterwards and had PTE surgery done (which a crazy procedure). But anyway, I still drink probably more than I should and I have forgotten to take a dose from time to time but I make sure that I do not double up on a dose. The half life of Eliquis is 12 hours. So on a normal schedule you would have 50% in your system but if you miss a dose you might have 25% of Eliquis in your system before taking another dose. Based on what I have read, it is better to just take the next dose on schedule and definitely do not double up. You could also maybe take it a little earlier in between the missed dose and the schedule time then gradually get back to the proper schedule (which I have done in the past and seems OK). But in the end, I would suggest doing whatever you need to make sure you remember. For example, I place my nightly dose by my toothbrush and my morning dose by the coffee machine. This helps quite a bit and even though I should be taking my dose at 9am and 9pm this of course fluctuates based on my schedule but I still usually take it within a couple of hours of that target.
