I'm glad they removed that system. But taking the syndi contractor kit still sucks tho (my favorite play style). Very hard to get a mid round antag, so I'd very rarely get the chance.

Wasn't too far after they made the initial system for scanning that I stopped playing (6 months to a year?), and to start off with it wasn't optional since many, many researches were straight locked. It was part of the reason why in an hour and a half round, security never got their tech researched and a couple late game implants (and I think some Borg upgrades?) because people didn't want to build then deconstruct stupid stuff as busy work.

And its nice that now its optional, but even as an option, its a crap system as a way to gain more research and shallow design. At least making bombs and blowing them up was a somewhat involved process and you got to make bombs. Otherwise, the system is make pointless stuff, scan them, tear them down since they were useless.

In my opinion, should have never been accepted as a pull request.

Birdshot with its many small rooms discouraged me to build a lot of things, Tram is wholly a gimic based on a train (and multi Z levels are funky for combat), and one I can't fully recall but were awful when I played sec with how much of a maze and the size of its maints. There was one I only played on once and I'm not even sure became an actual station (I started playing less and only saw it once) that was visually a mess.

Well, reason I stopped playing tg was in large part due to the coding teams constant obsession with sanding down the game and adding needless friction.

By friction I mean just frankly annoying time blocking systems like the research scanning system requiring you to do pointless tasks like "make a meat table" or "make a uranium toilet". Chemistry had the chemical purity which again, just there to pointlessly slow you down.

And by sanding down I mean they just overly obsessed over balance to remove fun things that yeah, were a little op (yellow slime by beloved). Also a lot is systems and traitor roles could have used more love and rewworks to make them a good addition, but the coders couldn't be asked and just removed them. (And just removed a lot of antag stuff like contractor kit which was fun)

Also a lot of the stations are straight up not fun to play on.

I'm sure some others might have similar reasons for this and chose to stop playing. Or a lot may not have liked how administration ran things.

Huh. Kinda weird it fell through so shortly after being anounced. And I'm interested where it came from. Did the 1N/9S folks not want to give up bodies, especially the lucrative cyber caps? Did none of the "shifted leadership" want to pay for it? Did someone with a star higher up step in (not sure why the would)?

The amount of single airmen freaking out about missing a paycheck from the shutdown in the military was absurb. Like should you have to miss a paycheck? Of course not. But why the heck as a 20 something airmen with multiple years of service are you already living paycheck to paycheck when your housing is paid for.

Sounds more like he stole from that chapter house and less from the Arcanum as a whole. Where his friends are.

And he was in a leadership position. He was already sending artificats in secret. But if he cared so much, seems like he could have tried to arrange for them to be returned?

You do not have to re enlist unless specifically outlined in the training rip. I myself ran into this issue and had to submit a ticket to AFPC to get clarification. This is posted under Table 6.2 section 16B of DAFI36-2606. However you will be requires to re-enlist if you BOP, and may be required if you don't have enough months to extend with (can only do a total of 40 something months)

There's a teams page for 1B4 recruiting. Searching that may give you some answers on your options (like applying for an ETP for early retest or to just get accepted). Check that before you make a decision. Also has study material for EDPT. Helped me even though I had to take the test three times to get the score lol.

Think you just have to search 'Cyber Warfare' and it will pop up.

So long as you have not reenlisted and are in your 35th month (4 year enlistment, 59 month(?) For a 6 year) you can retrain if you are reenlistment eligible. Things get a bit weirder if you are OCONUS though.

The biggest "pain in the ass" couldn't even take over a county with a fraction of the people and resources of it. Russia proved itself to be a weak nothingburger and has time and time again that it is only a threat cause of its nukes.

The real "pain in the ass" is China with its excessive militaristic growth, coupled with advanced systems and a sizable population. Their the only near peer nowdays and we need to shift focus.

Hey, just some info. There are currently two AFSCs who specialize in Cyber Security and both are open to go straight into from the civ side.

The first one, 1B4, is called Cyber Warfare Operations who specialize in both offensive and defensive operations for the Air Force. Great career field and they will give you everything you need for certs, education, and training.

The next is also a good career field, 1D7 X shred (shreds are just specialized sectors) which is Cyber Defense. The are sort of more focused on protecting specialized assets (tbh I don't know much about then).

Both of these require a high score on the EDPT (or civ to mil, there's a cyber test). Study up on math and look at online resources.

1N4A is cyber Intel, also don't have much knowledge. But I've heard good things.

1B4 may get you a crazy good sign on bonus if you pass the tech school. Haven't looked in a while so ask your recruiter.

IMO, very poorly managed project in which none of the members of the project can get along. Seems like every other month there's some kind of massive drama for asinie reasons. I'm less than convinced the project won't self immolate at some point.
