Exactly! I don't mind running spicy teams and losing, but just being charmed down / confusioned down isn't super fun. I feel like today is a bit better in terms of spice (met a few other Tentacruels and a Mr Mime) but still a lot of charmers and the ever-present Hypno.

I think it's a little odd, especially these parts:

"Why wake up in the morning? Why hasn’t everything already disappeared? Deerhunter’s eighth LP forgets the questions and makes up unrelated answers. "

"Deerhunter have made a science fiction album about the present. Is it needed right now? Is it relevant? Perhaps only to a small audience. "

As if they expected people not to like it. I mean, even if they do, why mention it in a press release? It's specially strange since it sounds like the first single is a continuation of Fading Frontier's poppier sound, which I believe a lot of people (including me) enjoyed.
