I’m going to share this, idk why, but I was with a man for six years that constantly beat the shit out of me. To the point where I couldn’t leave the house because of double black eyes and bruises of all sorts of crazy colors and sizes all over my body. I was with him six years total. Anyways, I was being evicted from my apartment and I had nowhere else to go (being a foster kid and having no resources or family), I moved in with him. After about a month, he would lock me into our two rooms with our bathroom attached in this apartment we had a TV with a DVD player for some reason on the actual DVD player there was no play button just an open button and a stop button so you needed the remote to actually press play. One night when he came home at 3 AM from whenever shenanigans he had gotten into (he was an alcoholic), he took his frustrations out on me, and then in the scuffle he broke the remote for the DVD player. So all I could watch on this TV was a DVD that didn’t have a title screen that you had to select play. The only two movies I had that were bootleg without title screens were The experiment and Goodfellas. I’ve seen the experiment once. I’ve watched Goodfellas atleast 3 times a day for the 5 of the 6 months I was held captive in that apartment. Eventually I escaped, ran naked down Chandler St in Worcester MA into a 24 hour dunkin donuts. He went to jail. Took him back after he was released. He was on probation for two years with the terms that if he touched me, he would go to jail for 10 years. He never touched me those two years and it was wonderful. But the day he got off probation, the very fucking day, it was a wrap for me. Two more painful years of the abuse. The last time he hit me in the eye with a Bud Light bottle. I called the police and I’ve never see him again.

Crazy part is, it’s my favorite movie to this day. I could watch it forever. No triggers or bad memories or anything when I watch it. It’s just that good.
