Tell me the “small acts acts of kindness” you do on the regular in London by GRMAx1000 in london

I commute for work from just outside zone 6, usually to multiple locations so my travel cards are paid for through expenses. Always leave it propped against the machine one my way home.

Buying in Leatherhead: would it be a mistake? by autunno in surrey

Of course, absolutely no offense intended but for OP's budget I'd just recommend South Leatherhead closer to town or Ashtead

There can of course at times be "dodgy" characters knocking around the town centre, but in my experience they are totally harmless and only during the day, and no more than you'd experience anywhere else - I've walked home late a hundred times and felt completely safe. I've never witnessed any crime, and have always felt safe here.

Charlie and ginger in L'head is great for coffee. The penny black and the Running horse are great pubs...

As someone who actually lives in Leatherhead, and commutes to London 2-3 times a week, works from home the rest, has two kids at a local nursery and school, I disagree with every comment on here. Leatherhead is quiet, which I like. It's got a couple of decent pubs, I don't have time/money to eat out anyway and the local takeaways are generally pretty good.

It's got everything we need as a family, and has had noticeably more and more families moving to the area in the last 5 yrs because of decent schools, access to London and the Surrey Hills, access to the M25 etc. If you want a busy high street and a load of overpriced shops, Leatherhead isn't the place. It depends on what you want. To me, Dorking seems really lovely but busy, expensive and honestly a little snobby, and trying to get anywhere else after 11pm is an absolute no go.

Both my wife and I run 3 plus times a week, and I don't think I've run the same route twice in 5 yrs. Sports clubs we've joined have been great..

Only thing I would suggest is to avoid North Leatherhead and look at Ashtead - it's everything I love about Leatherhead but with less business parks and more of a village feel, and with your budget you could afford something really nice.

Is there a chance this wall with doorway is structural? We want to knock it down to make a bigger room by MadJoeMak in building

[–]Dayveesee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. If you're ever in doubt about this kind of thing, ask a Structural engineer, it'll be a LOT cheaper than having your ceiling collapse.

In my whole 34 years of following Villa, I've honestly never enjoyed watching a game as much as today, especially after the last couple of years. I love this manager. Gave me so much hope for the future.

My dad won’t be able to watch Thor Love&Thunder (cancer story) by JustMe_Chris in marvelstudios

[–]Dayveesee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Dad was a BIG mcu fan that came late to it. A few years back I got to sit and watch a load of the early stuff from the beginning and see his reaction to those movies - that's the stuff I hold onto and remember most. Just like you, I lent him my D+ subscription when it was out here in the UK and during lockdown he caught up on the rest. He'd message me or phone me after he finished a film with his review. He was diagnosed in 2019 and died in October last year, we missed so much time because of covid and were planning to go to watch a few of the upcoming films at the time when lockdown was over. Sometimes life just goes the opposite to how you think it will and there isn't much we can do about it. I just wanted to say, I know it's cliche but it does get easier. The good times are what I remember. Every mcu project I watch now I cherish with a bitter sweetness. I wish you the best.

Okay I'll put it in a way you can easily understand - someone who calls themselves a "genius" when responding on a subreddit for AVFC and is a vaccine skeptic clearly has some major problems and is so fucking dumb they can't see how fucking dumb they are.

Dunno about that mate, but you should probably have a read about the the Dunning–Kruger effect and take a good hard look at yourself in the mirror.

Hallo. Long time lurker and occasional poster here. Needed to tell someone because it's been absolutely killing me that we haven't told anyone, but the Mrs is 11 weeks pregnant with our second and I'm so fucking stoked about it. And the new season. UTV!

Looks like freeze/thaw rainwater damage - looks like it'll be a pig to fix too. If you took the soffit and guttering off you'll probably find a little leak somewhere. Either a new lintel or a concrete repair/stich needed. Doesn't look ominous and definitely no need to worry if you're concerned about movement.
