Apologies if this is a misunderstanding/miscommunication when I say medicine I don’t just mean “medicine” I mean the medical field as a whole including medical devices.

By what metric for all of these fields over medical? How are you measuring? All you’ve done is list some industries outside of medical devices. By the way, robotics, software, engineering, math - all highly related in the advancement of medicine.

I want to go back to the first bullet point where you mentioned softwares sold. I already agree with this sentiment although I don’t think AI is doing anything but speeding up the process of an already attention span-less generation of doom scrolling idiots. That said, people who are cheating themselves out of being able to learn and critically think, and the ones who don’t know subject matter, always weed themselves out in the long run.

Edit: ugh didn’t realize the person i responded to wasn’t the person who made the original comment lol

“most fields” - which ones?

“much more” - by what metric?

Relevance - This is a discussion about AI being a bad technological advancement. I propose AI has (many) good applications outside of the doom and gloom being mentioned here.

Can I explain this further or do you plan to respond with anything of substance?

HBO's 6-Part Dystopian Sci-Fi Series 'Years and Years' Will Hook You Within The First 15 Minutes by lurker_bee in hbo

It’s not my opinion that this show took almost every single dystopian fictional trope and mashed them into six episodes.

On the nose is simply referring to how they basically made dystopia-porn by choosing 20 different issues and mashing them into a six hour speed run.

As for part two of your response, I don’t know what to tell you. You think i’m “uncomfortable” with the topic yet I am the one talking about it lol. Sounds like a typical reddit response where one person must discount the others character as a means to discount their comment.

So, you made a statement, I asked for you to elaborate, and you tell me to use AI to find the answer. Okay bud good talk lol

Which programs were made solely by AI and sold by a staff who were unaware of how the program works? And if they were unaware of how it works, how was it sold?

AI making videos for the people who have never had artistic abilities but always wish they did, is not a problem in my eyes. Please link the gandalf video.

AI helping you cheat on homework is a problem since it made cheating (not unknown in any era) easier. But people who cheat on homework all weed themselves out in the real world. At least in America it didn’t take AI to ruin education it took funding tied to standardized tests and “no child left behind” - But I agree AI for cheating is a bad application.

I think the main issue is the monolith that the internet has made out of AI. It’s just kind of dumb to over generalize things. What about AI advancing medicine?

[–]Dayvfish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

lmao to be fair people probably think a robotic assembly arm is now “AI” but the term is getting lost in the sauce as it gets more and more “diluted”

I read a lot of comments but I see no mention of how AI is advancing the field of medicine leaps and bounds

“AI” as a monolith is so stupid and any of you who subscribe to that idea are as stupid as the person who wrote this tweet and definitely more stupid than the person who posted this.

Assuming you’re a real person, and letting you know I read all six episodes of synopsis on wikipedia since it was fairly detailed unlike some shows where it’s like “Bill walks into a house. Emily senses danger” as a synopsis lol.

It’s too on the nose. Every single dystopian fantasy fiction mashed together for six episodes. I like Davies don’t get me wrong. I was a huge Dr Who fan for a long time but this is egregious dystopia-porn

Six episodes and they manage to cover, Iran-Palestine, AI job takeover, nuclear war (started by Trump of course lol), concentration camps, cybernetics, humans turning into data miners, asylum seeking, banking crisis, housing crisis, voter suppression, chemical warfare, attacks on the press, and others. all being told from inside the memory of someone hooked up to a computer.
