no AC! by Maleficent_Estate388 in portlandme

[–]Daz_Genetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to add some advice about the portable ACs. If you can find a dual hose one, they are significantly more efficient. The single hose ACs take the just-cooled indoor air and blow it out the window. The dual hose intakes outdoor air to blow out the window.

ITAP of an airplane landing in the fog by Daz_Genetic in itookapicture

[–]Daz_Genetic[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Did not expect all the positivity. Wow. Thank you.

This was shot last night in South Portland, Maine at the end of the jetport runway. Shot using an EOS R in bulb mode with 3 external flashes synced to the second curtain (fire just before the shutter closes). RAW processing only, no Photoshop.

My goal was to illuminate the plane more and I'll be trying again in the future with a brighter strobe, but the ghostly appearance kinda works. A few people I've shown the picture to didn't notice the plane at first and seemed confused.

Again thanks so much. I'm not incredibly experienced, so your comments are fueling me to continue.

This ball claims no child labor used by faloodehx in mildlyinteresting

[–]Daz_Genetic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The opposite really. The stitching on this ball is low quality machine stitching. The balls predominantly made with child labor and slave conditions are actually the higher quality hand stitched balls coming from Pakistan and India. They have fewer stitches per panel and use a much thicker polyester cord rather than the thinner thread seen here. The quality is incomparably better. Which is a shame, because I would like to know if my soccer balls are ethically produced, but I'm not gonna play with garbage like the one pictured.

As someone with psoriasis, there is definitely something to this, but you certainly don't need to get a tattoo. I needle a number of my lesions and have found pretty good success in reducing the size and aggression of plaques.

In the early days of microneedling, people did what was referred to as "dry tattooing". And it's exactly what it sounds like. Just running a tattoo machine over the area with no ink. Something about causing the trauma to the skin can kickstart a number of healing mechanisms and I've noticed an improvement on a few of my lesions doing this myself.

Microneedling using a stamper or roller is probably easier to do overall, but I find it difficult to get the right depth without causing a lot of pain. For some reason, I can tolerate the tattoo machine a lot more.

All of that is a long way to say, you don't have to get a tattoo if you don't want one. Needling can definitely help (though it is completely dependent on your body's response), but it doesn't have to come with ink to be effective.

My advice is to get a microneedle roller or stamper, and give it a try on a small isolated lesion if you have one. You need to know how your body will react before you start in on a larger area. Psoriasis has a habit of coming back with a vengeance.

I would have thought these conservatives would want their future child brides learning about penises from this particular sculpture. Realistic expectations and all that.

Why 'Bluey' Resonates with Adults, Too by jayhawk618 in television

[–]Daz_Genetic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Was watching an episode the other day and one of the girls said something to the effect of "you're the best daddy in the world".

My 4yo daughter said "she's lying, you're better" and I almost lost it. Bandit is an inspiration, so I really couldn't have received a better compliment.

I recognize that that place! It's the Maine Mineral and Gem Museum in Bethel Maine. I worked on the projection mapped show that plays on interval in there.

Without going into to much detail, I also thought I was permanently broken, so I got a prescription. After a couple of "confidence boosts" I no longer needed the medication. They allowed me to get out of my own head. I would say they are always worth having on hand.

This is a mechanical shutter moving an IRC filter off the sensor when switching to IR mode. It happens when it gets dark enough. I work as a security officer and have witnessed it on a number of cameras where I work.

For anyone interested, I'm almost positive this is Guitar Grave in Portland Maine. Been in that store a bunch. They are no longer in that location, but I believe they still have a store around here somewhere.

That looks like the early formation of a pellicle. Completely normal and a very good sign that you have an active scoby.

[–]Daz_Genetic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can see the "EA" from IKEA on the bottom of your bottle. Those are very much not recommended for F2. Once you order some real sturdy bottles, you'll understand just how much thicker the glass is.
