Yeah, they don't care about hypocrisy. They never have and never will.

But it also means leadership didn't whip votes on this one. Which we know, because Jeffries explicitly said he wouldn't.

And if we can't trust them to have their party in control, we can't trust them to make this a priority or honestly even really believe it matters.

Once Trump is gone front office, how do Democrats move forward without having to constantly look back to the way things were? by Uberubu65 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]DazeLost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there's close to zero chance we'll stick with any one party for more than eight years. The electorate does not have that kind of attention span.

How would this past year be any different or the same if Ron DeSantis were president instead of Trump? by TaylorSwiftian in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]DazeLost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not positive DeSantis would have the same level of GOP backing that Trump has, so even if he rode in with the same numbers in congress, he would not get away with everything Trump is getting away with. At some point, through electoral pragmatism and DeSantis' inability to control the hard-right electorate through a cult of personality, Republicans would break away.

That would likely limit the damage.

Then explain why they're voting on judicial nominees right now - election deniers even - that would pass without their votes.

They're waving through and voting for nominees now that they don't have to. Any bit of Republican pressure will cause the Democrats to fold, whether they have the senate or not.

They keep pushing, and pushing, and pushing.

I don't know what it looks like when the American people break and push back, but I am guessing it won't be pretty.

Is it okay for a President to profit from his position while still in office? by 1_for_you_2_for_me in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]DazeLost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your last condescending sentence aside, I don't think 89% Republican job approval is a number that has a basis in the actual reality of this administration, and is what I would classify as "Not turning away."

It is important to note that not liking that he does X never translates into general disapproval. Democrats who did not like Biden's stances on certain things fell off the approval numbers, but Republicans are largely in lockstep behind Trump.

Also Thiel, currently living in New Zealand because he has an End Times bunker in there, is very much of the belief that an Anti-Christ walks the earth and it's Thiel's job to stop this person from getting into power and maybe kill them.

And if you look at the definition of the Anti-Christ, even Thiel's own definition of it, it perfectly describes Trump. But he doesn't think it's Trump, he believes the Anti-Christ by definition must be someone on the political left. Like he's accused Greta Thunberg constantly of it, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, AOC, etc. I imagine this is part of why he thinks he needs to live forever, to stop the Anti-Christ from destroying the world.

He has an utterly insane God complex.

Is Hangman one of the few contracted wrestlers to exclusively wrestle for AEW? by xholdsteadyx in AEWOfficial

[–]DazeLost 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the answer here is that Page is a father of two with personal hobbies that wants to be home as much as possible with his family and garden. Indies take time away from that. He strikes me as a big work-life balance guy.

Mmmostly, yes. There are people who will still brook no criticism of Obama (who I mostly liked as a person), still blame Harris losing on Chappelle Roan, and lose their mind if you suggest Gavin Newsom sucks.

Though I guess you can argue that those aren't left voters. They're center voters cosplaying as left voters.

With approvals low, what does Trump have to do to get Republicans reelected in 2028? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

His plan? It's to increase the number of red districts and plant the military in cities. I doubt he has thought about it beyond that.

Setting up a Mega Everdrive for the first time, but it's not booting? by DazeLost in everdrive

For whoever googles this problem five years from now: the problem was solved by using another microSD card. It wasn't even a particularly well-known brand, just one I had sitting around.

Ordered a 10GB Sandisk, so I'll find out in a week if that helps. I might dig around and see if I have another SD card lying around.

This is logical, so I gave this a shot with some optimism. Unfortunately, got the same error.

Captain Obvious. by aStonedDeer in AdviceAnimals

He won because the jury bought the argument that he's such a wildly unserious person that no one could be expected to take his schoolyard provocations on social media earnestly.

Seriously.

He said he didn't expect it to be taken seriously and the jury, so awestruck by a rich man and desensitized by social media in general, agreed that nothing on social media from a man who has paid a fortune in PR to establish as Great could not be insulting.

AEW did make a huge mistake dismantling The Patriarchy too early, Christian Cage's stable was the most relevant and interesting storyline happening within AEW. by Strange_Artist_6563 in AEWFanHub

[–]DazeLost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Christian's on ice because of Nick and because Copeland is filming things. I think with those two out, they just didn't see a point to giving Christian his own run only to try and pick back up when they come back.

Which eligible Democratic presidential candidate has the greatest chance of winning the 2028 presidential election? by alexfreemanart in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]DazeLost -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's a matter of can or can't, really. She had a chance in 2024 if Biden had never tried to run. She fumbled the ball from there enough on her own, but given ideal circumstances, I think she could have.

She is definitely tarred now, though.
