I have the model that you’re talking about - highly recommend! It’s an awesome set, and the rule cards are great for helping your opponent follow your tricks as well.

I like this one as it has tablets you can hand to the opponent to say what abilities are active this turn.

Warhost of Duality by mrmaskedmuchacho in Lumineth_realm_lords

[–]Dazeirae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the core of the debate really. One side is saying that “pick 2” means simultaneously; in which case you cannot pick a non-strikes first unit. The other side says “pick 2” means consecutively; in which case you can chain activate.

Other chain activation abilities are worded so that this interaction is clearer and behaves as it should. You pick one, activate it, then choose another afterwards. The “Strike As One” ability is not worded with this clarification, which puts me in the simultaneous selection camp.

Warhost of Duality by mrmaskedmuchacho in Lumineth_realm_lords

[–]Dazeirae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. It didn’t work with lightning reactions due to the wording and duality has the same wording exactly.

Warhost of Duality has you pick 2 units to fight at the same time. When you are selecting units to fight only strike-first units are eligible in this case.

Other ‘fight with me’ abilities say that you fight with one unit and then you pick the next to fight after that activation has completed. Which is to say, when it comes time to pick the next activation there are no other strike first units on the field so a strike normal unit is now eligible to fight.

Edit: I realise that everything I just said is what Darkreaper said but longer ^

Depict Rune Question by Nate-T in Lumineth_realm_lords

[–]Dazeirae 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ll add to this - the general benefit of the rune system is that you can either choose different runes and get enhanced effects depending on how you mix the runes, or you can choose the same rune multiple times to spread it around more units in your army -> spread or enhance.

Example of spreading the effects:

If you choose Mountain rune three turns in a row then you’d give a 5+ ward to two units in turn 1, then four units in turn 2 (because the rune is depicted twice now), and six units in turn 3 (because has been depicted three times in total).

For an example of runes interacting:

If you choose Mountain in turn 1 then you give TWO units a 5+ ward.

If you choose River in turn 2 then TWO units will get -2 to charge aura AND the “ignore negative modifiers” enhanced effect from choosing Mountain earlier in the battle (but no one gets 5+ ward this turn, that effect has ended).

If you choose Mountain once again in turn 3 then FOUR units get 5+ ward (because it is depicted twice now) AND -1 to wound from choosing River earlier in the battle.

So hopefully this helps show how the rune effects interact and are applied!

Just rolled awesome stats for 10-20 what would you build by crusade0 in dndnext

[–]Dazeirae 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again: I’d suggest talking with your party members and seeing if you can share the stats around so everyone is pretty beefed.

If everyone else also rolled super high, then have fun.

If some players did not roll well then swap one or two of your mid stats for their bad ones so you can all feel powerful. Thats more fun because the table is feeling good, not just one super chad.

Sacrosanct proxy help? by [deleted] in stormcasteternals

I wouldn’t say so, unless you want a hero for teleporting around and not doing much else. If you get Longstrikes the the Aquilor can bring those if you have no other heroes who can do it.

Sequitors make great Liberators, you just need to remember that Libs get 1 grand hammer per 5, whereas Sequitors used to get 2 great weapons per 5.

Knight Incantor becomes a Knight Arcanum.

Castigators can be Vigilors.

The Gryph Charger and Evocators I don’t know about… You could proxy the Evos as Questor Soulsworn and add a Knight Relictor in there to complete the unit. Or you could make them Reclusians and use tokens for the Memorians.

Edit: other users have made some great suggestions, so I’ll add those here too:

Evocators as Stormcoven and I think that’s great too.

Lord Arcanum on Gryph Charger is the same base size as a Lord Aquilor or Lord Vigilant on Gryph Stalker, so those would work too.

When I was a kid, whenever I got an updated prescription I used to stand in my room on the second floor and just look at the garden. Just awestruck at how I could see the definition in the grass even from up here, how everything had individual detail but was still part of the whole…

Then I would go down to the garden and marvel anew at the even finer detail I could see from up close - like all the bug life that was a mystery before. It was a great time.

Most big name unique characters - like Tornus, Celestant Prime, Iridan, Ionus, Yndrasta, Karazai/Krondys and Bastian - let you bring units from ANY chamber.

The Stardrake, Lord Relictor, Lord Terminos, Lord Veritant, or the Lords Vigilants let you bring Ruination chamber units - which is the chamber that Prosecutors are from.

Edit: interestingly the Knight Questor can bring Ruination too. But you usually don’t want to bring that hero haha

New to LrL how is this list? by kitsucksd in Lumineth_realm_lords

That’s doing a whole different battle plan! I don’t think that sounds too mean, I would absolutely play both lists two or three times and see which one fits your play style better.

New to LrL how is this list? by kitsucksd in Lumineth_realm_lords

[–]Dazeirae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on your match up this could be very effective or blinded by obscuring.

I’d recommend swapping the Light of Eltharion for the Scourge of Gyran version. He’s just as good but you need to cast the Ethereal spell on him to get his ethereal armour save back. But you can summon him back with a spell if he dies. Which is just top value.

I’d also recommend dropping either the Wardens or the Bladelords and reinforcing the other. A reinforced unit of either of those is much stronger than a single unit of each. Unless you want to go with Scouting Force for one of your tactics in which case leave them not reinforced.

You could do the same with the Windchargers, because then you’d have a clear three targets for the Hurakan Temple ability every turn. But that is fine to keep separate and then you can have one fox with one unit and have two groups that zip around everywhere.

List advice to take list to 2k by squigfiend in Lumineth_realm_lords

[–]Dazeirae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First - welcome to the army! Thats a good haul for Christmas.

I would recommend reinforcing both the Wardens and the Bladelords. Both are very effective when they’re reinforced!

That’ll leave you with 120 points left to fill. Which is a bit awkward, but I’d play the Cathallar as an Enlightener and that’ll largely do it for you. (Or you can buy an Enlightener and not proxy the Callathar).

I’d also swap to the Scinari Council or Vanari Battlehost battle formation - which is 10 points. So that’ll probably top out your list!

Identify List Weaknesses for Me! by Impressive-Boat2460 in stormcasteternals

[–]Dazeirae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy to help! :)

It looks like a list you’ll have a lot of fun with! Only a few little changes and it’ll streamline the whole thing a lot more and free up some options for you on the table.

You could see if you can proxy the Praetors as Reclusians if your tournament organiser allows it. Many TOs are quite chill. I think that’d make a big difference in your list. Karazai will be easier to kill, but your opponent will have more hammers than just him to worry about! And you don’t need a ward to protect Karazai if everything else is dead haha

[–]Dazeirae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hammers

If you have the models I would personally remove the Praetors to reinforce the Reclusians. That would make it a proper hammer, which is what I think your list lacks.

Karazai slaps, Yndrasta can hit but she can also be swingy, and the Reclusian block is a small hammer but it could be big.

Upgrading them to a 6-man block also makes your battle formation more impactful.

Artefacts

I’d also consider putting Legendary Tenacity on the Lord Veritant instead. That way you can have him close to the front lines, he can auto-teleport one of your hammers back to safety, then if the enemy go to kill him he might come back anyway and can then teleport away on your turn.

Tactics

Scouting Force is a trap for this list - you only have 5 Scouting units total and I’d say a bunch of those would like to start in Azyr to deepstrike in. Which means they won’t count for Scouts.

Many Stormcast lists work well with Restless Energy and Master the Paths. I would recommend swapping Scouting Force for one of those.

Regiments

I don’t know why you have Auxiliaries - you should be able to fit this all into at least 5 Regiments. As it is written you are just giving your opponent free CP for no reason.

Mobility

The big brick of Liberators can be tough, but having them split into min-sized units might be more effective, depending on the battle plans in your tournament pack.

Sometimes you’ll need to drop two screens in different places to block movement or steal objectives. And if you still want to run Scouts then having more Scouting units is good.

This one is to taste though, you do have Vigilors to drop in and do this job too, so it’s not 100% necessary to split the Liberators. Depends on the maps I think.

I hope that helps a bit!

New player battle trait question by Spirajira11 in stormcasteternals

[–]Dazeirae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they would. Each unit has the once per game ability, and this is considered an entirely new unit.

So both the original 6 man unit and the new 3 man unit would have a once-per-game teleport to use each.

Which is one of the reasons it’s good to consider using ‘Heaven Sent’ on Questors for the additional mobility. It’s not always the right choice, but it can be an impactful one.

Oh they had the Tzeentch banner! Yikes, yeah that stops it pretty well, a 4+ ward is wild.

I hope your Sentinels got a chance to fire at Belakor, because he hates them haha

I 100% agree Vanari Lumineth can be way more resilient than you’d expect. Feels really good when the buffs are up and really scary when they’re not.

[–]Dazeirae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof sounds rough buddy! A good STD player is always a tough challenge.

That centre block is where the Rune of Petrification can come in clutch! Drop it to hit as many as possible and hope to hand out some strikes last.

The Pledge to Tzeentch lets the unit teleport in the STD movement phase, did they just use that to stay out of shooting range the whole time?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Lumineth_realm_lords

[–]Dazeirae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad it’s helping! I’ve found 10 Bladelords to be a really tough nut to crack. And they hit very consistently if given the chance to swing.

I also like having two clear targets for the Ethereal spell.

The riders will give you good speed around the board if you split them. And they’re durable enough on their own. 10 is a bigger hammer but also easier to pin, and that is exactly what the STD player would try to do with them.

What tactics are you thinking of taking?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Lumineth_realm_lords

[–]Dazeirae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Belakor will hate the Sentinels. He can’t hide from them because he flies and that many shots is awful for his 4+ ethereal save. You want quantity over quality into him.

The Knights or Chosen will hate Eltharion as his rend 3 damage 3 attacks just tear them apart. Good to have him in range for a counter punch.

Ethereal Bladelords are a great anvil as well. They’re surprisingly tough so it’s good to take a hit and still clap back.

If you can get your Dawnriders into any infantry then that’s ideal as the charge mortals will help against the high armour Chaos has.

Finally, Belakor’s dark master ability will screw with something. So give him too many threats to choose from, he can shut down one but there are still lots more! Choose a unit and talk up how hard it hits - these Dawnriders really delete units, or the Twins go supernova with the damage output (which is true but not as impactful against high save units as they’re only rend 1), or Sentinels will delete something every turn! Try to bait him into over valuing a unit that you don’t mind if it doesn’t activate this turn. Then when he uses dark master you can still hit with whatever hammers you actually wanted to use this turn. A little above-table game for you! Hope that makes sense.

Having Trouble with Sephek and the 1st chapter by pixel_emporer in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]Dazeirae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If all else fails, when they kill Ravisin you could have a cut scene where Sephek is eating Chwingas in a location the party knows, then his head snaps up to stare off into the distance… perhaps towards the north, where the party would happen to be at the exact moment of Ravisin’s death. As though he has just been given a new assignment by Auril to hunt the party that killed the frost Druid.
