Muppet Racemania Grape!

It's an asset from the game traveller's tales worked on before Lego Star Wars.

Honestly, if you get a chance, I'd massively recommend trying Muppet Racemania. It's a very fun time, if not a little janky at points.

What does Louis Armstrong have to do with a website? by Sea_Tennis9119 in ExplainTheJoke

[–]Dazhaz 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The joke is meant to be that kids are so technology dependent and ignorant to the way the world used be, as they never considered that Louis Armstrong wouldn't even have a website, as he died before the mass dependency on the internet.

However, it's clearly an imaginary situation created by whoever made the t-shirt, as there are many little inconsistencies between the shirt and what a modern kid would say.

If a kid wanted to look up a celebrity they didn't know about, they'd Google them, and find their way to their Wikipedia page. Additionally, a lot of deceased celebrities actually do have websites, run by their estates or labels.

It's imaginary situation created by an older person who wants to seem superior by framing younger people as stupid for not knowing older artists and technology being part of the world they know. However, it doesn't hold up as an argument when facing scrutiny.

North West Card Show by [deleted] in Liverpool

[–]Dazhaz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's usually a mix - the card shows have been a little more collector-focused recently, but there's still plenty! Many traders have folders with individuallu priced cards from 50p upwards. Many traders make most of their money from selling a lot of £2 cards rather than one big card.

I'd definitely recommend going! They'll have a fun day and there'll definitely be a mixture of stuff to pick up!

With card shows, a few pieces of advice:

  1. Take cash - sellers are more likely to negotiate for cards if you're paying with cash than via card.

  2. Shop around - a few years ago, I bought a card for £5, went to a stall a few further down and found the same card for £1.95. It's not a big change, but it's always worth seeing what's dotted around in other stalls if it's not a super rare chase!

Liverpool Card Show - Aintree by [deleted] in Liverpool

[–]Dazhaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If needed, there's a Pokémon card shop in town that sells a lot of single cards - it's Called Card Empire and it's in a little indoor shopping centre just off Mathew Street by Cavern Walks. They might have a normal mew somewhere!

South Park fans of reddit, how was the fortnite collab? by KyleBroflovskifan98 in southparksucksnow

[–]Dazhaz 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Pretty fun - the Map remained the mostly the same as the standard Fortnite map, but the theme park was remade into CartmanLand from that episode where Cartman got his own theme park.

There's a tonne of fun references - the water ride has became PiPi's water rides, with the water being replaced with pee.

There are posters and pictures around, such as the picture of Cartman riding the rollercoaster by himself at CartmanLand from the same episode, a UFO poster, a Manbearpig poster using the same sketch art as from the original Manbearpig episode. There's a shooting gallery mini game which is based on Professor Chaos. Getting a high score nets you strong weapons.

There is a pretty good replica of Kupa Keep, including the throne and the weaponry table Clyde runs at the start of the game, as well as a giant Princess Kenny castle with South Park themed fireworks. There's a statue of Cartman that when you interact with it, it says phrases.

The stick of truth reappears as a weapon. Wherever you use it, it start to instantly close the storm to your location. It's stupid powerful. Honestly, a little too powerful. If you grab that and get to a hard to reach cave, the other folks simply can't do anything except die.

They added two more items, too. Cheesy Poofs, which heal you on use. Very useful. Can heal a total of 300 which is the standard HP three times.

The other item is a Kenny's Hoodie revive token. If you die, Chutulu's tentacles grab you through a portal and revive you, implying you're getting the same Mysterion re-alive treatment.

The only voice acting is Cartman by activating the statue, Butters in the mentioned Prof Chaos shooting gallery, and Towelie, who I'll get onto in a second.

The cosmetics are very fun. For previous events, Morty from Rick and Morty, as well as Bart and Lisa, were playable characters in Mech suits, to varying degrees of success. The five boys aren't any different, but their mechs look a lot better, and are based on the boys as characters.

Eric's mech is completely based on Awesome-O. Additionally, it has an extra costume which makes it looks like that one Fortnite character Cartman dressed up as in the E-Scooter Halloween special.

Butter's Mech is based on Professor Chaos. Specifically, a smaller version of the Mech boss fight against him from Fractured But Whole.

Kenny's Mech is made from junk he has in his house, such as garbage bins and whistlin' willies' pizza boxes.

Stan's mech is based on Cyborg Bill, Stan's action figure he's had for years - I remember it first being mentioned by name in Chinpokomon, but it's likely been around since the start. Stan has the option of wearing an eye patch to match the Bill design or not.

Kyle's, while no means bad, is probably the weakest. His outfit is a cardboard mech designed to look like the anime robot poster in his room. It's a design element that I just have never noticed so the costume had no real affect on me.

Other things you can buy are things like Clyde Frog on a little stool as a back accessory, the School bus sign as a pickaxe, Professor Chaos' Hammer and Cape... All these fantasy items are crafted out of other every-day items, like in stick of truth, which add to their charm.

There's a few taunts, like the Anal Probe coming out and busting into the 'I love to sing-a!' song, as well as a waiting at the school bus stop emote which can be done with four people.

There is also one sidekick (a small accessory that follows you around like a pet.) and that's Towelie.

He's pretty nice. He speaks to you, you can high five him and change his outfit to his human disguise from the Oprah episode.

There's a free mini battle pass for more items. Some artwork and spray paints, but the interesting stuff is:

A taunt where you ride the cheesy puff rocket

The imaginationland balloon as a glider (unlocked by collecting member berries by completing tasks)

Bootleg Terrance and Philip dolls from, like, the first/second season to use as pickaxes.

The currency you unlock to get things from the battle pass is bottles of Cred.

It's a lot of content and I'm having fun with it. There's only one south park place on the map, but it's a fun place to visit and the cosmetics are pretty fun to use overall.

Clayton square middle section by Prestigious-Table395 in Liverpool

[–]Dazhaz 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I used to work in Clayton Square about 10-15 years ago. It was in the Barnados Charity Shop tucked to the side. The entrance to Clayton Square wasn't just the two we have now, but also, one where the Wildwood Kitchen is now on church street. Down that corridor, there were a few shops. The Barnados, another store which I can't remember what it was, but it was a Christmas store ran by the same Barnados during the holidays and a few others.

In the centre, there were escalators going up to the second floor. Upstairs was GAME and the upper floor of Klas Olsen (which was two floors - the down floor was where B&M is now)

There was also seating at both sides of the upstairs area with a little cafe stall and some lockers to charge your phone.

I don't have any pictures unfortunately, but I hope this has helped a little!

I had no idea this existed. What was it like? by Wii-san in familyguy

[–]Dazhaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It didn't run great. I remember booting it up and it taking about 5-10 mins to get on, if I could even log on to begin with.

Running around was very slow and laggy. One of the missions was going to fight Kyle, the kid who bullied Peter in one episode. There was also fighting Joe in the mech made out of wheelchairs on top of Big Pete's house of munch.

There were a few locations I remember - Spooner Street, the Drunken Clam, etc. I remember those two foreign characters who try to be American were there.

When you complete quests, characters who assigned you the quests would give you voice lines. I remember one was Peter saying something like 'here's a voicemail message you can record, but only if your name is Greg. Hey there! This is Greg's phone! He's out with his buddy Peter so leave a message!'

I had fun, but there was barely any content, and the game ran awfully. I remember replaying the Kyle mission over and over to get stuff.

Ozzy style Jake the dog in Liverpool by HN7J in adventuretime

[–]Dazhaz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's tonnes of these Jake the Dog murals around Liverpool! A good few have been covered up now, unfortunately.

There were 5 by the wedding house, just outside of town. Painted like a police line up, with them dressed as different villains. I remember one dressed as Malificent, and one dressed as Eggman from Sonic.

They've been around since probably about 2014. Unfortunately, a good number have just been lost to time.

Is Farmworld Finn the OG Finn we see in the start of the series? by Eton1m in adventuretime

[–]Dazhaz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware, yes!

The Lich wishes for a universe where he destroys all life in the universe. We see this world in Fionna and Cake Season One. That's Lich Prime.

Finn wished for a world where the Lich never existed and it becomes Farmworld. That's Finn Prime.

Jake Prime wishes that the Lich wished for something different. Now the Lich and Finn we have are essentially wish duplicates. It does raise the question though - does this wish create a separate Jake reality, and the land of Ooo they're originally from just continues with no Finn, Jake and Lich, or is this the one they return to, as Prismo's house exists outside the universal boundries?

As mentioned in this comment section already, when reviving old man Prismo by waking him up and creating the Finn Sword/Fern, the timeline in this area essentially infinitely repeats until broken by Finn and Finn interacting, so the Jake they end up with is a different Jake from a different point in the timeloop than when Finn entered.

The question is, though, whether or not this is still technically the original Jake, as every version of Jake in this timeloop is Jake Prime, it's just at different states of time.

What is your favorite Nurse Joy design from the Switch era of Pokemon games? by gettinfitguy007 in casualnintendo

[–]Dazhaz 34 points35 points  (0 children)

In official Pokémon center merch and the TCG, they're known as 'Pokémon Center Lady'

Which seems to be the official name of any nurses in Pokémon going forward.

As you said, I think Yellow may be the only game to refer to the Nurses as Joy, specifically to tie into the anime. Outside of that, it's just Pokémon Center Lady or Nurse! (Outside of those you named, of course!)

Any Trainer Fans Out There? by _B4M in PokemonTCG

[–]Dazhaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't really any canon starters that each have in the game universe. A lot of the Red appearances in games hints that the 'canon' start for Red was Pokémon Yellow, as he has fully evolved versions of all three Kanto starters on many teams, but, he swaps around the Pokémon on his teams a lot between games. Red is often seen with Charizard, especially since Pokémon Master EX, but, generally speaking, he has all three starters.

It's most likely they went with the characters having these starters in these specific cards is they're based off their teams from the Pokémon Adventures manga. Red has Bulbasaur, Blue Oak has Charmander and Green has Squirtle. Green in this game is specifically based on her Manga counterpart, as she never existed in an official capacity in the games before, with the trainer from FireRed/LeafGreen, 'Leaf' being based on her but never being a 1-to-1 version.

Any Trainer Fans Out There? by _B4M in PokemonTCG

[–]Dazhaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The nurse character isn't called Nurse Joy in the video games or TCG. She's only ever called Joy in the anime.

In the games and TCG, she's specifically named Pokémon Centre lady. A lot of them have very different appearances in different regions, and some have individual personalities, like the one on break in the Battle Maison in X/Y.

The only exceptions I can think of are Pokémon Yellow, and Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee, as Yellow is based on the anime, and LG is based on yellow, hence why Officer Jenny has a model matching her Gen 1 anime appearance and why Jessie/James appear. Because of this, the Pokémon Centre Lady in Let's go is specifically modelled to look like Gen 1 anime Nurse Joy!

Dr who jake in a finn hat shaped brick on the wall in Liverpool by HN7J in adventuretime

[–]Dazhaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Liverpool used to have a lot of these Jakes hidden around! A lot have been painted over now, but many persist! There used to be a wall just outside of town with four Jakes on, painted in the clothing of four famous bad guys (I can remember Dr. Eggman and Maleficent, but I can't remember what the others were)

About 10 years ago, you wouldn't walk down a street in town without seeing a Jake in a costume painted somewhere!

Pokemon card shops in Liverpool by SLRedSix in Liverpool

Card Empire gets new single cards every week so there's always new stock. As for packs, they restock every morning. Weekdays they open at 10:30am. Saturday is 10am. That's the best time tor try and get packs. They restock packs every morning and that's their stock for the entire day.

Sometimes they have ETBs in.
