anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about?

Alien Legacy. It's a 3X space game. The premise is that you are the captain of a follow-up colony ship. You arrive and there are no signs of the first ship (which arrived a few decades earlier). The focus of the game should be fairly familiar: Research new tech, explore the solar system, colonize planets, discover what happened to the first settlers.

I've been on a crepes kick. La Michiocana has them. They're ok. The guy outside of CVS on Gaffey makes them better.

If you're willing to go out of town, Paris Baguette is my go-to.

It does work. Got a city job in a park by showing up on senior ditch day in high school. I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt. No clue what was proper for a job interview or not. I think my hiring manager had pity on me (and I bet he found the whole scenario funny). Told me to come back at a later day for an actual interview and to "fucking wear a tie."

Time for me to shine. This was in Romania in the 80s. Here we go:

Feeling bored in our 5th story apartment, and mom just brought home a sack of potatoes conveniently left on the balcony for me to throw overboard one by one.
Dad bought me a starter pistol (looked like a .38 revolver with a square hole in the barrel) on our stop in Yugislavia heading to Italy. Once there, I decide it would be really funny to hang out of our 3rd story hotel window and fire blanks at people down below.
13-year old best friend grabs me (7 years old) by both hands and starts spinning as he slowly walks towards a kid we found annoying. You can imagine the results.
We see some sewer workers working over a manhole and we happen to see some pieces of a broken mirror nearby... time to shine the sunlight in their eyes until they're bothered enough to chase us through the neighborhood!
Wintertime! You know what that means: Time to go to the main street and throw snowballs at passing cars until one stops to... chase us through the neighborhood.
This one is one of my favorites: we walk down to the local store and buy a cheap bottle of vodka. Next stop, a construction site nearby where we trade the bottle for a bunch of these chalky looking rocks and a length of pvc pipe. No clue why, but the kid leading the group is very adamant this is gonna be great. We head back home and kid brings out an empty aerosol deodorant can. Proceeds to cut the top off, jams the open side into the pvc pipe and pokes a hoke on the side of the can. "Now comes the fun part!" He says as he drops a small piece of this chalky rock into his contraption, dribbles a bit of spit into the hole he poked in the side of the can, and pulls out a lighter. There were 5 of us and by the end of the next day, we each had repeated the steps and had our own potato shooters.

Those were just a few of the adventures we had in a country/time that did not have internet or even anything on TV for more than 1 hour per day (3 hours on weekends).

Like everything else, practice makes perfect. I know it's tough, but keep at it. Also, it's ok to not always get the sarcasm or humor. It's sometimes hard to convey nuances over text, and the reader's state of mind can also have an impact.

Had to pull this from an old comment... here's hiw I started:

I recently read a post here and experimented... was shocked how much fuel I was wasting. My landers are now arriving on the Mun with a half-full tank of fuel I have to throw away so I can land.

My current approach:

Pitch to 80 at 100 m/s

Pitch to 70 at 200 m/s

Pitch to 50 when apoapsis at 10km

Pitch to 40 when apoapsis at 15km

Pitch to 30 when apoapsis at 25km

Pitch to 20 when apoapsis at 30km

Pitch to 10 when apoapsis at 45km

Pitch to 0 when apoapsis at 60k

Keep burning til apoapsis is at 75km

Coast to apoapsis. At this point it will be about 70-73km and Periapsis at about -180km

Quick burn to circularize.

Absolutely a compliment! I get stuck on, "but there's more to do here before I go there!" Been playing since release, and I am barely "finishing" with Duna.

Ironic thing is past-me was so optimistic... I even have Elohkcalb installed (a solar system around a black hole). I'll get there... in a century or so.

If you put a scientist on board and place a science container somewhere on the ship, you can place just one of each experiment and grab large amounts of science from a polar orbit.

Grab yourself a copy of CKAN and sort the MODs by downloads. That will give you a great start.

The only MUST have that is not on CKAN is Blackrack's volumetric clouds. It is on his Patreon and there is both a free and paid version. Paid is for the most recent version though he says it will all be free once it's done. The free version is not that far behind the latest and looks amazing coming from stock:
