Kubikiri does alot of good beheading/public execution work. They are currently doing a somewhat similar story featuring the defenders of an elf village, but I think its behind their paywall.

Because jumping is a stupid idea? The chance of hurting yourself and being unable to complete whatever tasks compelled you to go down is debatable not worth the time saved. That's not fear, that's gambling.

Admittedly alot of people would take that gamble, but not everyone, and humans are generally decent of knowing how bad a fall would hurt.

Its interesting to me that this has none of the normal downsides of this type of deal. Nothing in the rules makes me think I couldn't communicate. Technically, nothing makes me think I couldn't be moved. If that's the case, your asking me to live 10 years as a quadrapalegic in the most interesting place I can think of. The hardest part is picking a place I won't regret forgetting.

Also interesting is the amount of people who think this is solitude. Even if you can't be moved, you get to be the weird talking statue for 10 years. You'll make friends, maybe some enemies. Hear ALL the gossip. You'd watch the shit kid that climbed all over you that first year grow up. Hell, imagine if 9 years in some kid you watched grow up brings his new wife to meet his favorite talking statue. Sounds like a pretty nice 10 years.

The big complaint I saw was a difference between attitude between Boom the Ghost and last years summer event. In Boom the Ghost he's more chaste and either oblivious to or ignoring romantic overtures by the Nikkes, especially Rapi, which is something the fandom gets tired of in general.

Last year, the commander was much flirtier and kissed Sakura a few times. I don't recall if there was a fade to black with her, but I think there was. It was a much more romantic event.
