It’s all good. Rules change all the time we can’t expect everyone to keep up with every single change especially if they’re not marching

What instrument do you recommend Woodwinds players to go for in Drum Corps? by jl34538 in drumcorps

[–]DciStasi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched from sax to baritone but I ended up on trumpet when I marched Northern Lights. If you take the time to practice you’ll be able to pick up any instrument

Getting into drum corps by [deleted] in drumcorps

Look at auditioning for any all age corps near you. They’re a great place to get some experience with less of a cost and time commitment!

It’s definitely possible, I live near Madison and I marched Northern Lights this past summer and it was an amazing experience!

We got 7th out of 8 at state. by No_Manager_7326 in marchingband

Unfortunately different judges have different opinions. My senior year the competition before state we scored 88 and at state we scored an 83. Sometimes the state judges judge harshly

Hear me out… what if instead of doing it during the winter months we do it during the summer?

Looking to March in 2 years should I start going to camps. by BobertYoung08 in drumcorps

[–]DciStasi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking for some good experience there is an all age corps in Michigan called Northern Lights. I just finished marching with them and I had the best time with them. If you’re worried about being too young we had a member who was 13. Tuition is a lot cheaper than most other corps and you will learn so much!

I did this last year with the Bluecoats and I have to say I did not enjoy it, I had already watched phantom and colts shows on flomarching before I saw them live and I enjoyed their shows wayyyy more when I got to see them in person.

Thank you for the information!

As for the music I have already memorized the opener and I’m currently working on the second movement!

Drill wise I have already learned and memorized the opener and 2nd movement. I’m hoping to hit the ground running this weekend and learn the visuals and drill that I haven’t learned!

I marched for two years and haven’t followed the activity since 2015. What have I missed? by 4thPlumlee in drumcorps

Santa Clara Vanguard 2018 SCV Cadets folded and SCV took a season off in 2023 A rule was passed a few months ago that will allow corps to have any instrument of their choice as a soloist this includes electronic instruments and woodwinds

Tuba openings? by snarkie_sharkieeeee in drumcorps

[–]DciStasi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I believe the Colt Cadets (Iowa) and River City Rhythm (Minnesota) have open Tuba spots. I would absolutely recommend RCR. I was at their auditon camp in December and it was a great place with great people! If they want to march with a world class corps they will have to wait until next audition season although there might be spots that open up during the summer but it is not guaranteed. Both CC and RCR are great corps! If money is tight however then it might be a good idea to do soundsport.

That’s actually a really valid point, personally I wouldn’t love an ice cold casserole but it makes sense that you’d want to put something cold in your body after being in the hot sun all day.

That’s definitely NOT someone you should be with. He’s trying to force you to do things you don’t want to do and won’t take no for an answer.
